I not sure, I will ask Alex, this weekend. An I will let you know, the next shipping of Elements, come in the 1st week of of October.
That shippment will have 1 Element Bipe 170, that will be flown at the Dist 7 Chmpionship. This past weekend I test flew Tak's Element
170, with a DZ170, weight was 10.7 lbs, need to play with the CG and throws. But it flew nice.

Tim,.........I agree,...We need one of those!:D Had I known about the Bipe I would have ordered that instead,...would have saved me some money,..LOL! I will for certian order a bipe if it's around $800.00 U.S. Dollars.

I have the Element 170 composite on the way in this shipment. I hope to have it for the Dist. #2 Championships for display,..don't think I can get it ready before then.

You can e-mail Alex shim at Fliton,....His email is posted on page 6,...I think,...really nice guy.

Mike ... ever flown a F3A bipe? Anyone tried one? What is the difference? I am curious to know.

AmericanSpectre505 09-25-2008 12:48 PM

RE: Fliton Element Bipe 170

Yeah,...I would think maybe an all wood version may be $800.00,..doubt the composite would be, unless it is a mixture of both?;)

But if so,...heck yeah Mike get one to play with,..LOL.:D

The $800 version is all wood. I talked to Alex today. Jan 09 earliest date.

RE: Fliton Element Bipe 170

Well $800.00 U.S. dollars seems like a great price,..time will tell!:D So,...how much is the composite version going to be,.....I guess,..............(this could be painful:))$2,500.00 based on the cost of the mono wing Element 170 composite,...still a great price considering everything out there in bipes and mono-wings.

In the wood version,....ARF, ARC and glassed fuse and wings is an option?

Man I like how this model can be bought as a wood arf. I might even have to get one. they sure do look sweet. Something cool to play around with. I like it.:D

I wonder what size and weight are going to be? I don't see how you can get a legal biplane that cheap.

AmericanSpectre505 09-26-2008 08:14 AM

RE: Fliton Element Bipe 170

Yeah,...measurements and dimensions and weights would be nice, since there is a proto-type already flying from what I understand. Fliton seems to do it's home work before they release a product,...should be interesting to see the actual numbers on the finished product for the consumer/end user.:D

Still cool looking!:D

Its true Fliton so take their time ... guess they are not rushing out to make money only. Looks like they know how not to rush. Some of my F3A pals have seen the bipe pics and they are excited too. A F3A bipe at USD800! I hear Fliton have 50cc/100cc/150cc planes to be out soon.

Mike ... ever flown a F3A bipe? Anyone tried one? What is the difference? I am curious to know.
tIANci; I'm flying the ZN Suxess as a B-model to my ZN Oxalys.. The flight characteristics are way different! I do love to fly the Suxess, but it does have some strange "bipe-habits"!
At any time, I have 5 active mixes on the plane to make it track straight. For instance aileron to throttle mix (about 20%!). A lot of aileron to rudder mix etc. I have 4 servos on 4 serperate channels for the ailerons, so they take up a bit of mixing..
But once all the mixing is done, it is a lovely aircraft! It is SLOW and very graceful. Presents very well!
Most bipes do not like winds though.. And they are mainly designed around the F-programs and unknowns. (My experience comes purely from the Suxess..). Mine does not track as smooth as the Oxalys, but the rolls, snaps and spins are just amazing once everything is set up correctly.
I actually had my Suxess out for sale, but then took it for a couple of flights... That changed my mind :)

So I might not recommend a bipe as a beginner F3A, nor the only F3A model (Yes, please do arrest me here...). But they (at least mine) are great to fly and will open some eyes on the field! But do bear in mind that thay might be more than challenging in windy conditions.

Thinn ... thanks for the info. I realised that the F3A bipes have about 40%-45% more wing area than a mono winged F3A plane. Guess that means a lighter wing loading. That also would mean the plane climbs better. Did your Suxess KE with any coupling?

The Suxess does not climb better than the Oxalys... Rather the oposite.. (I have an YS160 w/APC 18.1x10 in the Oxalys and an YS170 w/APC18.1x11 in the suxess).
In KE I have a lot of roll and "pich" (elevator) coupling. I fixed this with a couple of free mixers! It is the first plane I've KE-looped with no problems. This is one of the joys of the bipes!
