Fuel for 160 DZ
Hi, have any of u guys used power master fuels for the YS DZ engine?
Is is as reliable as cool power? how does it compare? thanks for any replies :D |
RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
I have run the 30% DZ fuel with no problems. Just make sure its the DZ fuel or you will have some problems

Cusmo 20% black special is your best choose!!

RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
Mike ... what's a DZ blend? How much oil? 18%?

RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
I can't say for certain on power master. The oil content is pretty close, it the viscosity of the oil package that makes the difference, hence why the special blend. It's thinner.
Cool Power's 30% heli blend is darned near perfect. It's the one fuel you can run in a DZ and expect zero issues. But if you run Power master 30% heli, again, the oil is too thick and it will drive that motor crazy. It will run fine for a few, then start clogging up the works. But use the DZ blend with the thinner oil package and it works as well as Cool Power. These aren't the only fuels that work, just the 2 most reliable that I know of. Some people are running S&W blends with success, and I haven't heard of any issues with that fuel either. Just beware the offbrand fuels unless you have first hand knowledge. One of my pilots recently tried some Wildcat heli in his DZ. It ran like CRAZY for a few flights. Then the problems started. Everything clogged up, the needle went haywire, the engine started dead sticking, and in the end it needed a new fuel pump. We flushed it out with Cool Power 30% heli and you would not believe the black cruddy ooze that came out of that muffler. Something tells me he won't try that again... On the bright side, he got VERY good at tearing down and reassembling a DZ :D -Mike |
RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
Okay its about viscosity ... Cool Power 30% Heli fuel is easy to get here ... I ran the 25% Heli fuel with my YS110 and that never gave me any problems.

RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
The 30% Heli Cool Power and the 30% DZ blend PowerMaster run almost identical. You wont have any problems with either. Keep in mind though, fuels that will run well in teh older YS's and the 1.10, wont necessarily run well in the DZ as the pump setup is different and that is where the problems can develop.

So the DZ blend should work fine for the dingos? woohoo

RE: Fuel for 160 DZ
I have been using Power Master 30/23 Low Viscosity for a year now, I love the fuel, it runs very smooth, never had any issue, I also flew Cool Power 30% High Performance heli works as good, I usually run it if I run out of powermaster, I also tried the Byron 30/24 Heli and also works good, but I prefer Powermaster then CoolPower.
You can use YS20/20 but the engine runs cooler with 30% and saves more fuel as it makes more power, some times saving 3 or 4 dollars is more expensive at the end, but if can only get 20/20 then you can use it with no problems. I was never able to get the Power Master DZ fuel, so I only used the heli full and works good. Regards |
