S3010 + MK BB Elevator Coupler

Hello there.

I'm getting the servos for my Typhoon 909 + OS120Surpass III.
I'll use a MK BB elevator coupler.

I'm buying 2 S3001 for the ailerons and a S3010 for the rudder.
I wanted to buy a S3305 for the elevator, but I noticed it is slower and it has metal gears (which are supposed to wear faster). I'd like to stay with nylon gears and 4.8V for this time.

Now I'm thinking of a S3010 for the elevator, but I'm worried it doesn't have enough torque for both elevators, as the MK coupler stated it needs a 90-100 oz-in servo!!! Is that overkill?

S3010: .20 sec, torque 72.2 oz/in@ 4.8V
72.2 /2 =36.1 oz/in for each elevator half. Is that enough for both elevators? BTW The S3001 servos are 44.3 oz/in and normally you use one for each elevator half.

Do you really need that much torque? I don't need a 3D setup (i.e. 60º "paddling"), I need just enough throw for Snaps and Spins.

Thanks for your input!

S3010 + MK BB Elevator Coupler

Just for reference

At the '99 worlds in Florida CPLR was running a Futaba 9102 wing servo with an MK bellcrank to drive the elevators on 4.8V (40 in-oz) on his Alliance.

From what I recall he whooped up on everyone else :)

So ya I think the 3010 will be just fine :)

Well if it's enough for CPLR & his Alliance...

Gracias, Chad.
Really good and amazing info!
