flight simulator for pattern
anyone had much success on using flight simulators to practice their maneuvers? If so which one works best?

RE: flight simulator for pattern
Aerofly Pro.
There are quite a few pattern plane models available and with a little experimenting you can set them up to fly pretty close to what ever you have. I fly an Osmose model and use the "grid" scenary for great practice particulary in winter. Colin |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
I've owned RealFlight, AFPD, Reflex and Phoenix. (Don't ask me why I have had so many, just seemed to happen!) For my money Phoenix is the one I like the most for pattern type stuff. They have an Integral (which is what I fly) as well as other pattern type planes. The Integral is great although I would love an electric version on screen (not sure if I can change that).

AFPD - Beryll - Farmland-Grid scenery - 30 inch monitor

RE: flight simulator for pattern
I have reflex XTR and I fly INTEGRAL add on, I downloaded from somewhere. (try google).
for best practice, I use my multimedia projector with surround sound system! I fly while standing in my normal flying stance. Best pattern practice at home IMO!!:) Cheers Tabish |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
I wasted my money on RF 4.5,...don't waste your money if you want to fly any precission aerobatics on it. It does have great 3-D envelopes, but not what I was looking for.

RE: flight simulator for pattern
I have AFPD and G4.5, both work very well for pattern practice, but I preffer the AFPD, I have not being able to make the Osmose to fly well, I have the Osmose Evo and had the original, and the models flies horrible on AFPD, so I fly an extra or the smaragd. On the other hand the G4.5 flying the Pinnacle has being great, but is not the best for the P or F11.

RE: flight simulator for pattern
On AFPD you have:
-Smaragd -Osmose -AstralXX -Euphoria -Double vision -Spark On G4.5: -Genesis -Pinnacle |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
Where are you guys finding the pattern planes for RF 4.5? I have been flying either the big stuff or the new little electric pattern plane on there and they stink for pattern stuff.
Thanks, Bill Holsten |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
Bill,
Go to the realflight.com website and in the downloads section you can download a Genesis and a Pinnacle. I've played with developing a V3 for it, but keep getting side tracked and haven't finished it, Arch |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
after modifying some settings on the Spark, i found it fly good.
on G4 there is 3 different pinnacle. but only pinnacle and genesis it's a little poor.... a very good database for afpd: http://www.rc-sim.de/wbb3/index.php?page=Database |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
hi all.
What is a Gird Scenery ? sounds really useful but, how do you turn this option on ? |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
It's not an option it's part of the scenary...a few lines to help with positioning and angles. Look in the database in the previous post, I think it's in there.

RE: flight simulator for pattern
Alright,........I downloaded some planes for RF 4.5 and I cannot get them imported. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I an doing wrong? The Genesis import says I do not have the correct existing airframe,........???????? And none of the others will import either and the files are unzipped.
Sure it's a simple thing I am overlooking or maybe not? Regards, Bill Holsten |
RE: flight simulator for pattern
Bill,
Been a while since i've done it. Let me look tonight. Call or txt me tonight after 8 and I'll see if i can remember how to do it, Arch |

Thanx Archie,....ATH!:D

RE: flight simulator for pattern
I'm using AFP, not AFPD. It only has the Smaragd. I like the way the virtual Smaragd flies, but is it realistic? Since I haven't flown a real F3A plane, I couldn't tell how realistic the virtual Smaragd is.
