I just bought one as well, $199.00, could not pass it up. Thinking of powering it wit an OS 160. What do you guys think?

I have 3 engines not in use an os 120 surapas ,os160 or an rcs 140 gas i can' say wich one til i get the plane

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

The 120 Surpass will not be strong enough, especialy on the verticals. I would go with the 160 .

Anyone actually flown one of these?

I just ordered one 3 days ago i ll use an MVVS 160 gas engine so we will see what its all about....I dont think it can get less than 5000gr with this engine so iff the plane flyies ok i i'll bay a glow motor for it ..maybe 160 OS MVVS GLOW + TUNED PIPE

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

OK the remedy arrived today intact undamaged my first impressions are great it is large in size for a 120 is well built but it feels like it will be hard to stay at the 11lb. weight I will be puting a 2.4 in the plane with 5- 4721 JR servos I am leaning toward the RCS140 GAS ENGINE BUT I HAVE AN os160 ALSO WILL TAKE PICS AS I GO but i must say i feel it was worth the price

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

I have spent some time going over the remedy I always do this before i start building so that I can decide what i fell is my best options for this plane
first let me say that I feel this will be a really fun plane for the free style flyer. as far as a pattern plane you are going to have a problem with max weight .IF you aren't going to compete a OS160 will be great I estamate it will come out at 12lb. A YS 140-160 or a SAITO 150-180 as far as 4stroke engines go If you only want to burn holes in the sky one of the new 30cc gas engines would be great there is plenty of room in the cowl for them the firewall is 4 7/8" wide allmost 8 " top to bottom 6 3/8 deep thats a lot of room for different engines . I would have liked air foiled tail fethers but flat works for this plane the air frame NO hardware weighs 7lb. the covering looks real good the canopy is a little thin the cowl is very good landing gear good, over all construction looks very strong allmost to the point of being over done there is no right thrust built in bigger engines will need some well i will start work on the remedy now

Is this airplane bigger than 2 meters?

no it is 2m x 2m

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

OK,
Got mine yesterday. I have to say for $199.00. This is worth every penny. I will power mine with an OS 160 FX on pipe since the plane is set up with pipe pan. I will modify the rudder and elevators. The counter balance area will be removed and added to the fin and stab. I will also thin down the back end of the rudder and elevators, don't like it square. The landing gear is a little heavy, If I can fing a CF gear at a good price I could save propable a quater pound. The rest of the plane is great and well build. Great covering and color scheme.
Should be a good intermediate competitor.
I'll post picture when I start it.

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

the square trailing edges help in preventing flutter the counter ballances help lighten servo loads but go ahead if you want too

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

ORIGINAL: go vertical

the square trailing edges help in preventing flutter ...

Really? At the risk of oversimplifying the issue: Real F-16s have thin trailing edges, and so do propellers and Q500/Q40/FAI pylon planes. How fast does a Remedy have to go to encounter flutter, and how much faster can it go with thicker trailing edges and not encounter flutter? Will we really enjoy the prevention of flutter on a pattern plane due to thicker TEs? How thick is thick enough? How do we know? Inquiring minds want to know? [8D]

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

if you look at air flow from wind tunnel data you can see that turbulance is moved farther aft of trailing edge when the upper and lower edges are farther apart with faster planes the boundry layer is moved farther to the rear thus moving turblance farther aft

Bozarth 10-21-2009 11:34 PM

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

But when does it move far enough back to create flutter on a Remedy? (by "it" I am assuming you mean boundary layer separation?)

Kurt

Edited to add: We want to see pictures of your Remedy!

RE: MODEL TECH 2M REMEDY

look I am not going to get into a ball scraching contest if you want to taper the trailing edges go ahead do so. an f16 doesn't have the same peresentage cord wise as the remedy of the control surfasses the stabs are flying stabs that is a different set of rules the controle surfaces on a pylon racer are realy small
