I want to thank Tipo750 for the help the other day.I need to know how wide to make the ailerons, elevators and rudder on the Tiporare I'm building I have no plans and I hate to guess wrong.

The rudder is made buy gluing two 1/4" sheets of balsa together and sanding the taper in to it.

Ailerons and elevators are cut from the surface and capped with 1/4" balsa then sanded flush with the surface. Be sure to remove 1/4" foam from the surface to allow for the facing you are gluing on.

Tiporare Size Surfaces

Dear Flatspin,...

I am not sure which version or size Tiporare you are building. But I have the plans for the orignial Tipo that Dick Hanson published in the February '80 issue of Model Builder magazine.

If the size/location of these control surfaces would be of any use to you, I would be more than happy to pull the plans out and give you detailed dimensions.

Please let me know if I can help.

Sincerely,
MrSteve09

There were different versions, but I'll assume when you say "Tiporare" you are referring to the original. The ailerons were 1-1/2" x 1/4" trailing edge stock which was also the trailing edge itself. Everything else is shaped according to the plans, and you might want Steve's help on those figures.
