I have one that is 22mm (.866, or almost 7/8") x 23" long w/ fiberglass sleeve. PM me if you are interested.

The guys at Graphtech are pretty cool. I'm happy with the custom/modified set of gear I got from them and will use them again in the future.

I just received a wing tube from TBM yesterday. It is seriously UNDERSIZE on the O.D., which is very frustrating for me since I went to great lengths with TBM to get one that was slightly oversize. So I will probably not use TBM again for wing tubes. Just my experience.

I was told I'm going to need 7/8" X 30", I'm going to go carbon fiber on the tube, is the sleeve c.f. also?

Weird, since Arch just got one oversized....and the ones (yes plural) I bought from them last year were a perfect fit in a PBG socket. I'd call them if it were me.

Yeah. Call them. I did call them before I placed my order and talked to two different people about needing a slightly oversize tube. They printed me out an invoice with a notation on it about the tube being oversize, and I wrote a note on it making it absoulutely clear. But when I received it and measured it, not only is it NOT oversize, but it is actually about 2-1/2 thousands undersize. So if I call them they will probably tell me to send it back. But I went thru all the hassle so I wouldn't have this problem in the first place and have to send it back. No thanks. I'm so angry at these people, the last thing I want to do is talk to them, and have the expense of shipping it back. Just fed up is all. Don't want to deal with them anymore.;)

I can understand that. Guess it's time to use the old thin CA trick to make the wing tube snug.

Gungadin 03-13-2010 06:40 PM

RE: source for Carbon Fiber gear and wing tubes?

Yeah, that might do it. I was thinking of maybe some type of paint also, but thin CA may be more durable. I'll get it to fit properly, one way or the other. Thanks for your suggestion.

Dan this isn't a real big deal. One way to increase diameter is to use light silkspan strip and a touch of epoxy or thin ca. Smooth it out and lightly sand it to fit. You don't really need to do the whole tube, just a couple locations along the length. Do the ends and both areas that will be supported by the fuse sides.

We do this all the time as a matter of course to get perfect fits

Matt

Thanks Matt. I'm probably making too much out of it. I may still have some silkspan somewhere.;)
