Electronic Caller?

Hello All

Has anyone got a line on some sort of caller gizmo that I can use while practicing?? I belong to a small club and during the week there is rarely anyone there to call the sequence for me and I am too daft to memorize it. Some kind of dictaphone or tape machine or MP3 player where I could make a voice recording of the sequence and then stop and start it with a footswich would be ideal. I think the most important thing is to be able to start and stop with the footswitch. Done lots of Google searches but so far have come up blank. Any ideas??

Cheers

MJ

I use a small (cheap!) mp3 player with the manuevuers on it, and have opened it up and fitted a small microswitch to the FF button, so that when I want the next maneuvre I touch the button with my pinky, and off we go.

When I recorded the schedule I read the schedule, and waited 60 seconds in silence. This gives you time to do the maneuvure once or twice without the schedule skipping ahead of you.

I also used a small voice recorder I picked up from Dick Smith. It required no mods as you can group a large number of recordings on one Folder. So in one folder I have all of the schedules on individule recordings, so for every time I hit play, it will call one manouver then stop, the next time you hit play, the next one is called. I have it fitted on an angle to the back of my TX with velco, and so I can find the very small flat play button, I put a small piece of velco to it. It did take a bit of practice using it, but now it is almost as good as a caller, and needed no mods:-) Matt13

It is a bit weird having yourself as a caller though!

I don't know about that. If you had one that was a really good critic then it would be quite valuable.

I was thinking of taking my I phone and making a voice note to myself with all the moves in it, listen to it with the ear buds, I just have to either watch someone fly the pattern and call it with it on or time it out, it isn't voice activated so it won't cut off and with the earbuds it makes no sound that anyone else can hear

One of these days a Transmitter manufacturer will wake up to the need for this, and incorporate it into the TX. Put the recordings on a toggle switch, and Blue tooth it to a headset. My guess is that most of the electronics to do it are already in the high end radios, some of them can play music now. It would be a big hit with the IMAC, and Pattern crowd worldwide.

My SD-10G has a metronome feature built in, but voice outputs for calling would be really nice.

Futaba 14MZ has this feature available. You can put it on a toggle switch. I recorded the Masters Schedule and worked just fine. Wore ear buds to hear a little better. You can record each maneuver then toggle between each one. Can reset to the beginning and start over.

This is my setup. A mp3 player velcro taped to the side of the radio. play/pause activated by the pinkie finger.

I have been doing some thinking on this. Matt13 has a great idea with a dictaphone with different files within a folder. This is the one I am looking at http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...3f0303c5d6en02 . I thought some kind of a plywood base with a hinged and sprung pedal on it that would have a piece of coiled music wire attached to it. The device would sit in a wood cradle beside the pedal (maybe velcroed??) and the music wire would hit the play switch every time the pedal was depressed. The device would stop after each "depression". Repeat sequence for the next figure. I am going to actively work on a prototype and will report back when I have either succeeded or failed!! I'll try to look up Rube Goldberg and Mickey Mouse for some advice on this!!

Hoping for success,

MJ

An Update

I was in London Drugs (Canadian chain) yesterday and came across exactly what I need. It is an RCA model VR5220 Digital Voice Recorder. It has a large play button and will cycle through play/pause by just hitting the button. Best part is I got the store demo for 35 bucks!! Now to just devise the pedal actuator.

Cheers

Could you explain in detail how to program the T14 to make that work? It sounds great, I didn't knew it was possible to let it "say" one maneuver, hit the switch for the next maneuver, etc. I'm not sure how to program my T14 insuch away.... (and yes, I have read the manual)

I think it can be very useful to me......

Thanks!
