Conquest IV CG

I just replaced the engine in a nice Dave Patrick Conquest IV and need to check the Cg before I take it out to try. "Nose heavy fly crummy, tail heavy fly once!"

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

As I remember from the 2 Conquest IVs that I owned you should make them really tail heavy in relation to plan cg position. They fly much better this way.

I don't have the plans! Do you have any idea/reference points?

Thanks for your reply!

Well, the plans shows the cg at 50 percent of the root chord (19cm of 38cm). Otherwise it shows it at 35% of MAC which you can find at 47cm from the wing tip. I have to repeat that the plane flies much better with an aft cg position with absolutely no tendency to tip stall.

Here's a "famous" Stavros we have in Aus. No insult intended to RCSTAVROS or Greece but bear in mind this add is played without subtitles in a vastly non-Greek speaking country.

RE: Conquest IV CG

I got my Conquest from a poor guy whose wife was divorcing him and "getting rid" of his stuff by putting it on the lawn. I bought it from him as a mercy killing. It came with a rear exhaust OS .61 pumper RS fire breather which had the very annoying habit of 'going-rich'. It would run like ganbusters for 3 minutes , then it would start slowing from over rich. In fact I had an unanticipated landing and had to repair it. The engine swung a 13X9 which is very very big for a 61. I replaced it with a Wbra Speed 61 which I hope will provide enough power. BUT...the Webra was 2 ounces lighter...I will rebalance according to your directions.

Is that Australia or Austria ?

I think you can get a kit for the Conquest VI or VII from Jim Graham at R/C City ( glass and foam ).
