The Aeromodelling Club Dedalo from Venezuela, with the support of the Club de Aeromodelos de Rionegro (Colombia), the Club Campestre (Colombia) and the Colombian Federation Of Air Sports are pleased to invite you to the F3A Open International to be held in Llanogrande, Antioquia – Colombia from November 3rd to November 7th.

1. ORGANIZATION: the event organization will be in charge of the Club de Aeromodelismo Dedalo from Venezuela and the Colombian Federation of Air Sports, Mr. Carlos Rivero has been appointed as Contest Director. 2. OFFICIAL FLYING SITE AND PRACTICE SITES: The contest will be held in Colombia in the Club Campestre, located at Llanogrande – Antioquia 10 minutes from the international airport Jose Maria Cordoba. The club has its own hotel with duplex rooms, suites, gym, business center, golf, tennis, squash, football, swimming pool, etc. The flying field is a 300m-long grass runway and will be available for practice from Friday October 29th for pilots staying in the club hotel, and from Tuesday November 2nd for pilots staying outside the club. The club and the organization will provide airplane storage during the night and 110v outlets for battery chargers.

A practice site will be available from Friday October 29th for registered pilots in the Club Deportivo de Aeromodelismo de Rionegro, located 10km from the official site. This site has a grass runway 193m-long, during practice flights frequency control will be responsibility of the pilots.

3. OFFICIAL DATES: From November 4th to November 6th 2010

4. PILOTS: there will be no limitations for the number of pilots for each country. All pilots must present a valid 2010 FAI license. Only USA pilots may present AMA license.

IMPORTANT: Each country must present a Team Manager that can be a Pilot who will be in charge in all communications with the organization.

On Wednesday November 3rd during the official inscriptions all team managers must deliver its national flag and anthem, this will be returned at the end of the contest.

5. ORDINARY REGISTRATIONS: until Friday October 1st 2010.

The organization offers 3 types of registration:

Ordinary registration A: For pilots only
Price: 400 USD
Includes:
• 4 nights / 5 days stay at the club hotel in triple rooms, check-in November 3rd, check-out November 7th
• Breakfast and one daily meal (lunch or dinner on pilot’s choice)
• All Transportations to and from the airport
• Hotel insurance
• Local phone calls
• Swimming pool access
• Unlimited WI-FI internet service
• All taxes included
• All club services such as golf, tennis, etc.

NOT INCLUDED: mini bar, room service, international or mobile phone calls, and laundry service.

Ordinary registration B: For pilots only

Price: 300 USD. Only includes participation in the event.

Ordinary registration C: for team members not participating in the event.
Price: 230 USD

10. RULES:

a. The event rules will be from the FAI sporting code, section 4, January 2010.
b. During the model processing all pilots may use as back-up model any plane from other pilot.
c. For 2.4 ghz transmitters there is no radio impound.
d. Noise test will be on grass for all pilots before each flight.
e. All planes will be weighted after each flight
f. Top 30% of the pilots will go through to the finals.

11. COMPLAINS: All complains must be presented to the contest director by the team manager in a written document and will have a cost of 50 USD




12. MISCELANEOUS:
- The official currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso, and the current exchange rate is (1 USD = 1,902.78 Peso).
- The electricity in Colombia is 110 volts.
- The frequencies for R/C flying in Colombia are: 2,4 ghz, 72 mhz, 35 mhz, 53 mhz

13. JUDGES: Each Team Manager may nominate judges candidates after August 15th 2010, they must guarantee that they know the sporting code and have experience judging FAI contests. The organization, depending on the number of pilots registered and the upcoming sponsorships, may pay for the traveling expenses of the judges. This will be announced

de invitarlos al Abierto Internacional F3A que se
realizará del 3 al 7 de noviembre del presente año en
Llanogrande – Antioquia – Colombia.
1. ORGANIZADORES: La organización del evento está a cargo de la
Federación Colombiana de Deportes Aéreos y el Club Dédalo de
Aeromodelismo de Venezuela quienes han nombrado al señor Eduardo Aviles
como Director de este Abierto Internacional de F3A. La pagina oficial en
donde se encuentra toda la información relacionada con el evento y el

2. LUGAR, PISTA OFICIAL Y SITIOS DE PR�CTICA: La competencia
se realizará en Colombia en la sede del Club
Campestre ubicada en Llanogrande –
Antioquia a 10 minutos del aeropuerto
internacional Jose Maria Córdoba. El Club
Campestre cuenta con habitaciones dúplex
y suites, gimnasio al aire libre, bussines
center, zonas húmedas, zonas deportivas,
campo de golf, canchas de tenis, squash y
futbol, piscina, salón de juegos, etc. La pista de aeromodelos, en grama y
con una longitud de 300 metros, estará disponible para entrenamientos a
partir del viernes 29 de octubre, para
pilotos hospedados en el club y desde
el martes 2 de noviembre para pilotos
inscritos no hospedados en el club. El
club y la organización proveerán un
lugar adecuado para alojar en las
noches los aeromodelos desarmados,
adicionalmente se instalarán puntos
eléctricos de 110 voltios para la conexión de fuentes de poder y cargadores.

El Club Deportivo de Aeromodelismo de Rionegro pone, a partir del viernes
29 de octubre, a disposición de los pilotos
inscritos, sus instalaciones ubicadas a 10
kilómetros del Club Campestre como sitio de
práctica. La pista es de 193 metros de
longitud y en grama. Los pilotos foráneos
tendrán prioridad en su utilización. Durante
los entrenamientos no oficiales el control de
frecuencias será responsabilidad de los
pilotos.
3. FECHA DEL EVENTO: Los dÃ*as oficiales del evento son 3, 4, 5, 6 y 7
de noviembre de 2010.
4. PARTICIPANTES: Hasta un máximo de 35 pilotos, sin importar su
nacionalidad y sin lÃ*mite por paÃ*s, con licencia FAI 2010. Los organizadores
se reservan el derecho de inscribir hasta tres (3) pilotos adicionales a este
número. Únicamente se aceptará licencia AMA a pilotos extranjeros
residentes fuera de Colombia. A los pilotos extranjeros, que no tengan
licencia AMA ni licencia FAI, la Federación Colombiana de Deportes Aéreos
les suministrará una licencia temporal por valor de 10 usd.

10. REGLAMENTACIÓN:
1. Se aplicará el Código Deportivo FAI Sección 4 edición enero 2010.
2. Durante el Model Processing los pilotos participantes podrán inscribir
como segundo avión el de otro piloto participante.
3. Los pilotos en 2.4 GHz no están obligados a entregar su radio antes del
inicio de cada jornada. Para los demás es obligatorio cumplir con este
requisito en el lugar y horario indicado.
4. La medición del nivel de ruido se realizará sobre grama, a todos los
pilotos y antes de cada vuelo.
5. El peso del aeromodelo se verificará a todos los pilotos después de
cada vuelo
6. El 30% de los pilotos inscritos o mÃ*nimo 10 pasan a la final.
11. RECLAMOS: Todo reclamo debe ser presentado al Director del Abierto
por el Director del Equipo o Team Manager de cada paÃ*s y en documento
escrito acompañado de un depósito de cincuenta dólares (50usd).
12. VARIOS: En Colombia se utiliza como moneda oficial únicamente el
peso colombiano (Un dólar = $1.806,76 – TRM del 18/09/2010). La red
eléctrica es de 110 voltios. Las frecuencias autorizadas para R/C son:
· 2,4 GHz, 72 MHz, 35 MHz, 53 MHz, 50 MHz
13. JUECES: El team manager de cada paÃ*s, a partir del 15 de agosto del
presente año, podrá postular candidatos para jueces. Éste debe garantizar

que conocen el reglamento y cuentan con la experiencia y los recursos para
realizar esta labor con total objetividad e imparcialidad. La organización, de
acuerdo al número de inscritos, patrocinios o apoyos económicos que reciba
para la realización del evento, podrá asumir algunos de los costos como
alojamiento, alimentación o transporte lo cual será comunicado antes del 3
de octubre.

Hey Brian,

We will be using Byron Helicopter 30% fuel, we used it in Bogotá in 2009 and the engines performed flawlessly, same performance as the Cool Power Heli 30%, no engine adjustments were made from the lower usual altitudes , and it was 8000' high.

we will post the English version of the third bulletin here.

Ok Guys... this is it...

tomorrow we start with local practices until wednesday... as some of you guys know we have arranged a Workshop with Bryan Hebert here in Medellin so we get to know his trimming procedure better. we'll be working with him the days before the tournament and i will be posting the real cases here so we can all shera knowledge and exepreinces from this work. we'll also be posting pictures on a real time basis.

8 continuous days of F3A. can't get better than that... beats a trip to Cancun (ok maybe not that much, but almost ;)  )

Friends:
As technical director of the 2010 South American F3A Open in MedellÃ*n Colombia, I would also like to give my impressions about the event.
First of all, I´d like to highlight the presence of high quality pilots from the Americas and from Europe, giving us all a chance to see different flying styles and to share the human aspect, which is what makes F3A such a great experience.
We had 29 participants from Canada, USA, Venezuela, Colombia, Suriname, Ecuador, Perú, Argentina, Spain and Liechtenstein.
Practices were done in a great manner, allowing pilots such as Chip Hyde and Chad Northeast, with their vast knowledge and extensive experience, to help other pilots calibrate and trim their aircraft and radios. They passed on some ¨inside¨ knowledge in trimming and setting up aircraft. Bryan Herbert, in a very much scientific way was a great source of support for the other pilots in setting up their aircraft as well. In the name of all pilots, I thank them for their selfless use of time towards transmitting their knowledge and experience in sharing such information.
Now on to the competition, it was almost perfect. We flew 5 P11 Preliminary rounds in order to allow as many flights in competition form for the local pilots. They were flown in all kinds of weather conditions. Sunny, warm mornings and afternoons, changing wind conditions that brought temperatures down, foggy skies, in fact a little bit of everything. This made it challenging and fun for all involved.
The 10 best pilots passed on to Finals to fly four F11 rounds. These finals were themselves also flown in varied weather. It was so varied that round 3 was flown mostly in rain (like the euro champs in Austria apparently) and the immediate round 4 was in perfectly calm wind and completely clear skies.
In respect to the technical part of the contest, all FAI rules and protocols were followed. Sound checks were carried out prior to every flight and weightings randomly after. Model processing was done before the competition, and as technical director I tried to have everything flow so as to allow so many flights to occur. We were even interrupted by the brief visit of an Colombian Air Force Helicopter, which was exciting for all, but took time away from the main event.
For the P flights, we had two panels of 5 judges each. Furthermore, we had the presence of Jorge Olivela from Argentina (VIRUTA and FAI technical committee member) as Chief Judge. He also helped prepare the judges prior to the P and F rounds. In case of any doubt, his presence allowed us to resolve most issues before they ended in too much controversy. To all judges my sincere thanks.



For the F rounds, we chose from the best judges of the P rounds and combined them with some of the pilots that did not advance into finals. They were two panels o 5 judges each as well. Having active pilots in the F round judging mixed with the other judges allowed for such precise flights to be observed in the best possible way. To all of them, my most sincere thanks as well.
Finally, all of you have read all the reports on the facilities around the club. They allowed us to conduct a fun contest for all. We had the opportunity to see slow, close in flights from Juan Rombaut, vast precise flights from Chip Hyde and masterful elegance in between from Wolfgang Matt, who in spite of his many years of flying, maintains his top form. Having this great icon of F3A at the event made it truly special. Bryan Herbert, Brett Wickizer and Chad Northeast also contributed immensely with their precise flying, their knowledge and excellent demeanor and approachability. It would be great for you all to let those around you know that this event can be an important option for F3A flying in these parts of the world. It is even an option to include even our families, which so often is a difficult thing to have participate in our activities.
I gave it my best, and I think it turned out very well.
Hopefully we will be able to see each other again in two years´ time, in the 3rd edition of the South American F3A Open.
