Wing Tips (visibility)
1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to find a good scheme for my wing tips. I can never see them when I'm flying. I know it's all about contrast but feel like solid colors might not be enough. Was considering checkers? Here is a pic of my plane. The wings have the same trim scheme as the plane, which is a blend of some solid colors and some stripes - hard to contrast!
Please share your thoughts/ideas for wing tip visibility. Thanks. |
RE: Wing Tips (visibility)
Joe,
Take your picture and put it in grayscale. You'll see how much contrast you're really getting that way. Also of note, you would think that black and white would be pretty easy to see contrast, but a friend of mine's Brio had black and white piano keys on the bottoms of the wings and stabs and they were invisible in the air. |

Joe,
I've owned numerous planes done in dark red, cub yellow and black. These three color have great contrast. May not appeal to all however they are very functional and visible in most sky conditions. Looking at your plane I would suggest adding some dark coloration which the lighter colors could contrast off of as starters. You can experiment with the underside until you find something that works best for you. |
