Futaba 12FG, which switch/dial for what?
Well I finally did it and bought my first 2.4 radio. I picked up a 12fg and will use it to fly my large war birds. I currently have a 9CAP and when I switch to the new radio I’m looking for some insight on how and why you experienced pilots pick which switches and dials to use for things like Gear, Flaps, bombs, Throttle Kill, Choke, Brakes, Smoke etc.
If you use mixes to add interlocks please let me know.
The reason I ask this question is the new 12FG switches are a little different than before and I’m willing to start over and rethink and come up with a new standard for the new radio.
I’m real interested in standardizing to what most pilots due.
Here is my Current setup on my 9CAP
Gear = Switch E (GEAR Switch) pull = gear up
VRA = Flaps (Flap trim control) Clockwise = full flaps
VRC = Choke (clockwise = full choke)
Switch C = Throttle cut (UP= high idle, middle= low idle, down= throttle kill)
Switch F = Bomb Release (Trainer switch) Pull to release
Switch H = Smoke(pull for smoke on)
Ignition kill = not setup
Breaks = none
Some issues with my current setup, when I go to pull the gear up I usually take my left thumb off the rudder. A few times I’ve accidently released my bombs when going to raise the gear.
My current setup is very simple I only have one mix; flaps to elevator.
Thanks
Matt
