Ailerons should be set up using the Flapperon Wing Type. Right Aileron servo on Ch2 (Aileron) and Left Aileron servo on Ch6 (Flap). You can set up a Programmable Mix #5 or #6 to mix Ch3 (Right Elevator) to Ch7 (Left Elevator).

Aux1, Ch6, is also known as the Flap channel on most RC radios. If you check your manual, Ch6 is the channel that Flaps would be connected to and is also tied into the Flap System. The Flap System should be turned off if you are just using the Flapperon Wing Type for mixing Aileron servos. Disable Flap Trim, as well.

If Left Aileron is not plugged into Aux1, then you are not using the Flapperon Wing Type. It is much easier to plug the Ailerons into Ch2 and Ch6 and use a Programmable Mixer for the Elevator halves on Ch3 and Ch5 or Ch3 and Ch7.

Ok!! In Post#5 you said you had Left Aileron in Aux2. Was that a mistake or did you just change it?

You should be able to connect the Aileron servos to Ail and Aux1 and choose the Flapperon Wing Type.

OK!! What are you using Program Mix #5 for?

Make sure that after you make changes to where the servos are connected, you go through the Bind Process, again, otherwise, it may not work properly.

You do not need to use Program Mix #5 at all. You just need to set Wing Type to Flapperon. This will automatically mix Ail and Aux1. If you activate any other Programmable Mix using Ail or Aux1 it will conflict with the Flapperon Mix.

Do you know how to set the Wing Type? Look at Pg44 in the manual. You need to go into the System Menu by holding down the two left buttons on the face of the Tx and then Turn on the Tx.

You should also look at Input Select. You must set the Aux 2 Switch and Aux2 Trim to INH or it will change the Trim on your Elevators if you accidentally hit the Switches.

It sounds like either you are not understanding me or you are just teasing me. I believe I have been clear enough to this point.

Just an idea.

If page 110 of the DX7 manual is copied, filled and posted here it would show the settings.

OK!! So you just have one Program Mix and it is #6. It is strictly to mix the Elevator Halves.
You have turned on the Tx, with the buttons pressed, so that the System Menu comes up.
You have chosen the Wing Type of Flapperon.
You have disabled the Aux2 Switch and Aux2 Trim in the Input Select menu.
You should now go through the Bind Process again
Turn the Tx and Rx Off and then On again being sure to turn the Tx On first and then the Rx.
Both Ailerons should work now. If one Aileron servo or Elevator servo is moving in the wrong direction, you can go to the Reverse Menu and change it.
Make sure that the Travel, for each Aileron and Elevator channel is set to 100%, in both directions. Some people forget this and they end up with the control surface moving more in one direction than the other.
With the Trims at Neutral, you need to make sure that each Servo Arm is at 90deg to the length of the servo case. If it is not, remount the Servo Arm as close to 90deg as possible and then use Subtrim, if necessary, to move each Servo Arm to 90deg. You should not need to move the Subtrim more than 20 units. If you make the Subtrim value too high, it Reduces the overall Travel of the servo.

Rich,

Why not make it easy for you ?

Just fill a copy of page 110 in the manual and post it here with all the values as I suggested in post #16.

I looked over and printed out the Aircraft Programming Guide, on Pg110 of the manual. That is more useful for recording the values of the parameters in each Model Memory, after everything is working properly, in case you want to share it with someone else or in case you lose the data due to a Tx memory failure.

I think my instructions, in this case, are easier to understand and contain information that is not included in the Programming Guide.

I had the same issue with my DX7 until my brain started working right again and I plugged my left aileron to AIL port and right aileron to the AUX1 port.  I set the wing type (through the radio's system menu) to flaperon and -VOILA!- ailerons...flaperons...spoilerons...!

I'm not understanding why this thread seems so difficult.

On Pg 46 of the manual it clearly says to plug the Right Aileron servo into the Ail port and the Left Aileron servo into the Flap (Aux1) port. I do not remember if there is a technical reason why they recommend that, but I have always used that as the standard in every aircraft. This way, you always know which servo to check when you have an issue. I do the same thing with Dual Flaps and Dual Elevator Halves.

Other conventions I use are Switch Down for Low Dual Rates or Switch Down for Full Flap Deployment (or Flap Knob Full Clockwise), as an example.
