2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
Gentlemen,
Our club, located in central NC, has experienced a rash of crashes over the last year. The crashes I'm referring too all had one common denominator... lockout on 2.4 that were predominantly JR & Spectrum. I will state for the record that our club is predominantly JR though. Out of 80 members, I believe that only around 10% use Futaba & Hitech.
I have created a poll with the purpose of discovering how many people have had issues regarding lockouts. Now folks, I know this isn't scientific and in NO WAY am I encouraging a flame thread. I'm simply curious to know who out there has experienced crashes due to lockout.
In full disclosure: There is speculation at our club, that a Ham Radio operator in our area may be the issue but we have no way of confirming this. The station is located about 2 miles from our facility.
It's my understanding that a fellow club, located an hour away, was having similar issues. The club was located adjacent to a TV station's high power antenna. It was discovered that the broadcast antenna was "dirty". The RF engineers made the necessary changes that addresses the "dirty" signal and afterwards the high number of crashes cleared up. Oddly enough, 72 MHz on S/PCM never had any issues (to my knowledge).
I myself DO NOT fly on 2.4. I still fly with a 10X on 72 MHz SPCM. As far as I know, no one has experienced a lockout flying on 72 MHz using SPCM Rx's.
PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!
This IS NOT a bash 2.4 poll!
I understand that there are many aspects to 2.4 issue like voltage, Rx location, etc that can affect lockout issues.
I would greatly appreciate any input you may have *BUT* I respectfully request that any and all posters refrain from bashing and flaming.

This is a ridiculous and selectively biased pole with no selection for never experiancing a lockout or any problem on 2.4.
And you say want no bashing? thats because you are the one that wants to do all the bashing with your opinion.
I currently have almost thirty airplanes on Hitec 2.4 and prior to that I origninally used five on XPS's system (The first on the market) and have never experianced any problem for some years now. Where is the vote for that? Thats my vote.

Also, as I stated, this is not a scientific poll by any means. While it's scope is quite limited, it is limited due to the restriction of questions that can asked.

I am sorry however a poll that will permit zero tolerance due to your wording for any experiance other than what you want to hear does a hugh disservice to many folks who might not otherwise know any better.
Perhaps rather than fuel the fires you might wait and post 'Your' experiances with 2.4 when you get around to it.

I think it is an interesting exercise. If you don't want to learn anything, don't read the poll. Give it break!
Now let me see...............if Istay up late tonight Icould maybe hit the box for brand.....UMMMMM......................maybe 2000 times................
Nine years with Hitec 72mhz=no glitches
Six months Spektrum DX6i with 6000 series RXs=no glitches
One year Hitec Aurora 9 =no glitches
10.5 years with "My Thumbs System"=At least one crash per year....whoops....

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
In over two years I have not had ANY problems with my Futaba FAAST 12FGA on any compatible FAAST receiver. I fly giant scale with gasoline engines, all size alcohol powered airplanes, and turbine powered airplanes. I have also not had any problems with my 12FGA when using the 72mhz module on PPM or PCM.

No Lock Outs.
I check the battery voltage before every fight. (voltage display built into planes)
Servo "end points" set so none of the servos bottom or max out which causes a voltage spike.
Check wire connections / switches often.

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
My group here in Abu Dhabi fly withing 100 meters of a cell tower. Everyone here is on 2.4 with a variety of brands. No one has experienced lockouts or any sort of radio failure. The only failures I am aware of is RC Universe with Network "lockouts" and a constant occurance of a virus when trying to read posts on several threads.

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
I started using 2.4 more than 3 years ago. I've used everything on the market; JR, Spektrum, Futaba, Airtronics, and Hitec. IN all that time I have never had as much as a bump. Zip. Nada.
I know it's fun to blame new technology, but you are really barking up the wrong tree.

You forgot Airtronics 2.4, which I have experienced zero lockouts with.

Been using Futaba 1-CAG for two+ years, never a problem. Futaba 9CAP with a 7T?? module prior to that for 1 year. Nary a problem, flicker, burp, or wiggle.

"any crash you can walk away from is a good crash" Launch pad Mcquack
In my years of flying full size aircraft, we always said,
"any landing you can walk away from is a good landing"

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
i have seen 3 different "full range" AR6200 lockout several times, i even crashed because of a lockout, it went in on the 4th one. 2 of those were mine, the other was my brother's.. I sent it in and horizon said they couldn't find anything wrong, but they gave a new one for peace of mind...They did the same thing for my brother.
I havent had issues with the AR7000x6, or AR9000x3(dual satellite)..... i have several thounsand flights on them with out skipping a beat. Ive only had one ar6200 and tons of problems with it

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
i've been flying with a futaba 10c 2.4 and i still use 72 MHz with the 10c as well no problems i'm running gas nitro and electric planes and helis too
i've flown with hitec as well but none of the 2.4 stuff i fly at quite a few different places as well and the only problem i ever had was due to the receiver coming free inside the plane and twisting the elevator and rudder servo wires together (they didn't want to center properly) i've wondered how many times there have been lockouts due to a poor setup

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
Here we go again, people that refuses to let go of 72Mhz are looking for ways to bash 2.4.
Lets face it weather we like it or no 2.4 is here to stay.
