Default 9C LCD so dim

I just bought a 9CAF and the LCD screen is really dim. All the pictures shown in ads and the box itself has this bright LCD with a nice "green" background. Who thought of gray lettering on gray background? No matter how I change the contrast feature (which the manual doesn't cover and I had to call Futaba), it's so dim. The ads make it look like JR 8103's nice bright screen. I was disappointed. Any thoughts?

Default Wow!

Are you serious? I bought one and this thing has an awful screen! There's no green anywhere. I'm not kidding, it was gray on gray. Maybe I got a bad one??? Can anyone take a picture of the screen and post? I already sent mine back.

Yucho,
The backdrop is definitely a greenish color and is very clear and easy to see. Please send your radio for service/inspection.

Default AMC

I sent mine back yesterday to the return department since I just opened the box to look at it. I didn't mark "defective" because I wasn't sure. Looking at the picture, I'm still not sure. Thanks for all the help everyone. Maybe I'll order another one and see...

AnnMarie,

I agree the LCD is clear and easy to see, but I wouldn't call it greenish. It is grayish, the same color as a standard LCD back. The advertisement is actually misleading, I though it had a backlight.

Do you know if there are any mod's to add a backlight? It would be cool! Though, I see almost no use under sunlight.

Other than that, this radio is great.

Backlight=less battery life. I can see mine fine at the feild, and at home with no backlight. Daz...

But maybe for night flying it would be nice

I am not aware of any plans to backlight the display. The photos are, of course, taken under such lighting as to make the screen easily readable in the photographs.

I find mine very easy to read in the bright sun as well on overcast days.
