Futaba Faast RX Hobby King?
I have one of the Hobby King Orange receivers. It works fine. It is in a small electric airplane. I fly larger stuff mostly gassers. Say I was running five Hitech 645 mg and one Futaba 3001 servos. That will be pulling significant amps. I can not tell from the hobby king information what the amp draw ratings are on the FAAST compatable receivers. They list Corona, FrSky, and two types of "Orange" RX's. Any one know which ones are sutiable for larger airplanes?

The only receiver I would fly in that situation would be a Futaba receiver, a 617 would work fine as it would handle that plane without issue. Anything else is an experiment, and a potencially expensive and dangerous one at that.

I agree, don't take a chance on your more expensive planes with the Hobby King Orange RX's, use the Futaba ; I use the Hobby King Orange RX's on my Combat Planes, they work great and if they are destroyed in a Midair no big financial loss, I have 4 in service, and they all work without any problems.

I fly a sport 0.40 model with Orange RX from HobbyKing for more than a year now with no issues.
The model is a Vmar red arrows hawk modified with flaps and retracts.
Two 645 for the retracts, 2 3004 for ailerons, one 645 for flaps, 1 3004 for rudder and 2 3004 for elevator.
All runs great with A123 systems 6.6v pack.
But on my real jet, 6014HS...

I would not use the TFR-8 on a gasser. It does nothave the sensitivity of a genuine FASST Rx.
the later TFR-8s and TFR-8SB are improved in the sensitivity area and I'd probably use one of those in a gasser.

My friend has the orange Spektrum and has a dozen flights now on his Mustang, not a single issue and he gets it up and far out quite a bit.

I have an Orange 8 ch receiver in a 50cc Yak and it works fine. There are 5 digital servos connected directly to the receiver. I use Life batteries and no BEC. Like to keep it simple.

I have an Orange receiver in an old Focus 2 pattern ship converted to electric with a turnigy motor and ESC using 4 Futaba 9 series coreless servos. A cheap setup that works fine even at long range. No problems so far.

RE: Futaba Faast RX Hobby King?
Are these rx rated as parkflyers to med. size planes because they are not rated for the larger servos? I am still flying most of my planes on 72 because of the cost involved in switching over. I have been watching for used receivers but they cant hardly be found. I am now considering going with orange rx.
thanks

I use standard size servos in regular IMAA size models flying
at a regular field, not going for any height or distance records.
So far so good.
I operate mine from a Futaba 10c with a 2.4 module

RE: Futaba Faast RX Hobby King?
Well I bought one of these receivers and installed it into one of my 40 size glow planes with a .70 surpass. I got it to bind up fine, set up all the settings in the new radio, set the fail safe and off to the field I went. I did a ground range check of about 100 yards and everything worked fine. Started the plane taxied onto the runway and off It went. The first thing I noticed is when I pulled back on the elevator it didnt take off right away like usual. At full throttle is went airborne and up she went in a nice graceful turn. I adjusted the trim with no effect, gave it rt ail. with no effect, cut the throttle with no effect. So there goes my plane in a nice large uncontrolled circle which got bigger with each completed circle. I watched it go down in a 50 acre woods about 1/4 mile away. If I am lucky I might find it this late fall/winter after the undergrowth has died away. I am not sure what happened. Battery was charged, failsafe set, had full control until I pulled back on the stick to lift off the runway. At full throttle I dont think I could have done anything different. I guess I should have done a longer distance range check. The worst thing is even if I find the plane I will never be able to tell what caused it. At full throttle hitting trees it will be in a hundred pieces. It wasnt a good day today at the field.
