Default How do I reverse a servo travel direction

How can you reverse the servo direction on a servo? Can you just change the plug lead wires around or do you have to go into the motor and change wiring? I am hooking up some aileron servos and need one reversed. It is a EDF micro so there really is not enough room for a servo reverser.

In order of best choice

1. Hook it up to a separate channel and use the transmitter to reverse the individual servo
2. See if they sell a reversed direction servo (probably not in your case but there are plenty out there)
3. Yes, you need to modify the motor wires. The plug leads are all the same, ground, power, and signal, swapping them around will result in the servo not working.

it's not a simple swap the motor wires - you have to swap the ends of the feedback pot, also - and in some servos, the pot is mounted to the circuit board in the servo, and you may have to cut traces and use tiny wire to accomplish this..

Is there any way possible you could just mechanically connect the linkage to the other side of the servo arm?

Nope, the servo mounts so the arm stick out the bottom. I found another servo that was reversed so now I think I can go fly some more.

If that servo is used alone, swapping brands to reverse it is fine. However, if it is one of a pair (like one on each aileron or each elevator half) you need to be sure that the two move the same amount and rate or there may be some control problems. Even when the servos are the same brand, this difference can present a problem.

They were the left and right servos. I had to move the link in one hole and they are pretty darn close. I have not test flown yet.

Yes, but when you mount them, the output shafts should be facing towards the wingtips in a mirror image to provide proper aileron operation. With ailerons the servos both should actually rotate in the same direction.
