I have the Hitec 2.4 conversion, I use Hitec RX's and it works well for me. I have two of these transmitters, one I keep on 72 to keep some of that stuff in use. Not much channel overlap anymore.
Don't think I would use an off-brand set up when the Hitec works so well and not that expensive.

FrSky is like all other 2.4 systems and will only operate with FrSky receivers. I switched from 72 to 2.4 with a FrSky module in my Fut Tx and it's been rock solid for the 2 years I've been using it. Because FrSky is a lot cheaper that the other big radio manufacturers does in no way means that they are inferior in performance, as they have been proven to be just as good and in some cases better.

No mods required, just plug and play .

I've been using the FrSky module in the Hitec for a couple of years now with no problems. You do need to use the Frsky receivers though as, like all other systems, they work only with their own receivers. I have found the Frsky systems to be extremely reliable.

Get a telemetry rx!! these will warn you if you are getting out of range or power is low- anything which screws up reception will send a signal back to the tx which will beep at you - nice setup.

I'll add my 2 cents. I have been flying FrSky for going on three years and have never had a problem. They are inexpensive and do a great job. I use the standard version without telementary.

SORRY FOR THE DUPLICATE POST DIDN'T THINK THE FIRST ONE TOOK.
In my opinion you can't beat the FrSky for the money. Been using almost 3 years withour a single problem.
