8711HV or BLS-157HV
So I was all set to load up my 104" Extra with 8711HV's and I started taking a good look at the BLS-157HV.
On paper and price the BLS-157 looks like a better servo minus the aluminum case. However, being a brushless it should run cooler than the 8711V.
So I am in a conundrum, Which these fine servos should I go with? I am leaning towards the 157. Is there any reason to stick with the 8711HV?

RE: 8711HV or BLS-157HV
i have the bls 157 on a 40% scale extra 3w. 2 for rudder, 1 per elevator stab, 2 per wing aileron, total of 8 for control surfaces. 14 flights so far, no problems. had three flights, total consumption was about 1800 MaH, and not 3d flying.
i have the DS 8711 as a rudder servo in a 70 revolver, and also as a rudder servo for a 27% extra H9, no problem with over 30 flights each one.
i have just installed 8911HV servos on a extreme flight extra 300 91" ws, total of 5, i will let you know how those work out.
lets talk about costs:
the 5 servos JR 8911 HV, i bought from chief aircraft at 605, each was 121.
the bls 157, i purchased 10 of them from tower hobbies for 1726.16, 172 a piece, and this was with the discount.

RE: 8711HV or BLS-157HV
I'm going to second the 8911HV. At $150 it is a full $100 cheaper per servo than the 83T that you asked about in your other thread, and $50 cheaper than the 8711HV. It has steel gears and is internally the same servo as the 8711HV, just without the insanely expensive aluminum case. if you can get 5 for $121 apiece, I'd say that is a great value for a truly top of the line servo.
