Default Hitec 7975 servo: swap gears and case for MG?

I have a pair of 6975 and 7975 servos and would like to upgrade them to 7985 metal gears. Has anyone tried using a case and gears from a MG servo with it's Karbonite gear counterpart, or, know if this will work?

In this case, I would like to use the case and gear set (55423 and 55314) of the 7985 with the rest of the components of my 6975 and 7975 (which share common case and gear set). These servos are all in the same series and have the same dimensions.

I would just try it but at $35/servo I am hoping to avoid a science experiment.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Default

Just got confirmation from Hitec that this will work. Awesome!

(Edit: pending these servos have the same pinion gears which are pressed on and not really replaceable).
