Default Turnigy 9x motherboard

Hobbyking have 2 versions of motherboard for the 9x transmitter.
One is stated as DSS protocol and the other as AFHDS-2a protocol.
Original (DSS) has the m64 ic and i imagine the latter(AFHDS-2A) would be the m128ic
They say the boards are not interchangeable and I asked why but they said they did not know.
Anyone have any ideas on this as I would like to upgrade to the more power of the m128 processor.
I would have imagined the transmission protocol would be in the transmitter module and not anything to do with the motherboard.

AFHDS-2A .............. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...-protocol.html

Sorry Bluejets, I don't know much about the protocols myself, but for $11.53 for either board, I'd be inclined to experiment. Having said that, I respect that budget issues are often a primary consideration.

Yes, I had similar thoughts.
As usual though,it doesn't hurt to ask as usually there is always someone out there a little bit wiser.

Turns out the motherboard one would be expected to believe would be the 128 ic is in fact the older 64 chip.
So "upgraded" means nothing.

Really gets my hackles up when people do deceptive things like this.
So BIG thumbs down to Hobbyking once again.
