Default JETI for sailplanes

After seven years on OpenTX and EdgeTX, I bought a JETI DS-12 in early March. I have setup my F3K and F5J models so far, and I feel that I am getting the hang of the new system.

I would like to get a discussion started about how to get the most out of the JETI radios for sailplanes. I will go ahead and share my own model setups first, and discuss details in later posts.

But I would also like to see how others are doing it, to get some inspiration and learn more. I hope that you will share your setups with descriptions here as well. And you are of course welcome to ask questions too!

F3K
  • Flight modes for Launch, Zoom, Float, Speed and Cruise.
  • Zoom mode is entered after Launch.
  • When you move the elevator, Zoom mode is left, and the selected gliding flight mode is activated.
  • Flaps are deactivated by Launch mode, and re-activated when you push the throttle stick forward after Zoom, to make quick turnaround easier.
  • Camber is adjusted for the current flight mode with throttle trim.

F5J
  • Only flight modes for Float, Speed and Cruise; Motor does not have a flight mode.
  • Button D arms the motor, and button C starts the motor when armed.
  • The motor stops after 30 sec. or when you press C again.
  • Flaps are disabled when the motor is armed or on.
  • I use the throttle stick for both power and flaps. But the input Functions "Power in" and "Flaps in" can also be assigned to knobs or sliders, if desired.
  • Camber is adjusted for the current flight mode with throttle trim.
  • Aileron butterfly is set on a curve.

If you copy the model files over to your transmitter's SD card, then you need to prefix the model number, e.g. "0007F3K.jsn" to have it show up. I have also included some custom sound files that they rely on.

None of the setups have timers, as those are provided by my SoarJETI Lua apps.

I should also mention that I have customized the switches on my DS-12 transmitter. I have replaced C and D with push buttons, and I have swapped B and E, so B is a 3-position switch that I use for selecting flight modes. If you load my templates on your own transmitter, then you will have to setup these switches to fit what you have.
