Question 18650's in Aurora 9

Hey guys, anyone out there using a 2s 18650 pack to power their Aurora 9 TX? I've been using and been happy with NiMh but I'm afraid the scourge of obsolescence is taking it's toll on the quality of new stock NiMh replacement battery packs... the last pack I got from Radical R/C is giving up the ghost after only 2 years. I may be wrong, but I suspect that the cells he has have been sitting on the shelf for quite some time, and he's not moving much NiMH stock any longer.

I'm not real keen on using LiPo's for TX packs, and LiFe it is said is a No-Go in the Aurora 9 for various reasons. Thinking about using a 2s 18650 pack, or even 21700's if they will fit in the battery compartment. I figure I can still charge it in the TX with my venerable Accucycle Elite with an occasional balance charge cycle for maintenance every so often with one of my big chargers.

Anyone using 18650's in their Aurora 9?

To charge a Lipo pack in the Aurora 9 you have to disconnect and remove it from the battery compartment each time. This happens because a diode in the electronic circuit prevents the charger, if plugged in the radio, from communicating with the battery.
