Default Hangar 9 tachometer issue..

My little Hangar 9 hand held tachometer works quite well and gives very accurate prop readings but it literally eats the little 3 volt CR2032 batteries for breakfast. After use it seems to switch off okay as the screen goes blank, but a few weeks later when I try using it the battery is dead and requires a new battery to work. So far I've been removing the battery after use, but is this the only solution ? My old Royal Tach which gave excellent service for several decades but finally gave up the ghost never had this problem with it's 9 volt battery.
