Default Rx Packs

Okay... so I was looking at buying a new servo for my HPI Nitro MT truck, but I figured it makes more sense to just get a better Rx pack (i'm using alkalines now) and just get the 50+ in/oz (or so) of torque that my servo puts out now (i think its a standard Futaba s3003).

Sooo... I was looking at Rx packs, which are all absurdly expensive, so I figured I could just build my own! But then I became confused... I 'assumed' they were all AA (since that is what i was using with alkalines) but after looking at some NiMH AA's and then Rx packs, I noticed the AA's had twice the capacity... I then looked on tower hobbies, and saw that a bunch of the trinity Rx packs use 2/3 A cells, which I have seen around, and wondered about. Soooo I suppose, I just wanted to get some advice on building Rx packs... what cells to use... what connectors/where to get them etc... any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
