futaba with hitec
i have a hitec radio system and the hitec micro 555 receiver in my airplane.
my question is, if i get a futaba radio on the same channel, will it work with my receiver?
will i need to buy anything special? or will it work out of the box?
the servos and receiver are already installed in my plane and are working just fine right now. i just want a newer more capable transmitter so before i buy it, i'd like to know.

RE: futaba with hitec
Most definetely. Futaba and Hitec are interchangeable at the component level. Many of my airplanes have a mixture of Hitec and Futaba RXs, servos, switches, batteries, etc. Virtually all brand servos are compatible as long as the connectors are. RXs are compatible based on negative or postive pulse. Typicall JR/Airtronics are compatible and Hitec/Futaba are compatible.
I actually have one airplane that has a Futaba RX, two Hitec servos (throttle and retract), two Ace servos (airlons), one GWS servo (rudder), and a Futaba servo (elevator).
Not a very good practice.

I've even swapped the crystals between Hitec and Futaba
