Default RANGE PROBLEM?

I JUST GOT MY RADIO BACK FROM SERVICE (CHANGED THE BATTERY AND PLUGGED IN BACKWARDS). ANYWAY WENT TO THE FIELD YESTERDAY AND WITH THE ANTENNA IN DOWN POSITION I COULD NOT GET 15- 20 FT. WITHOUT MASSIVE D=SERVO CHATTER AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THE ONLY THING I DID TO THE PLANE DIFFRENT WAS PUT A NEW 1200 mAH BATTERY IN THE PLANE, AND ADDED WIRE TO EXTENTEND THE BATT. TO THE AFT OF FUSLAGE FOR BALANCE. MY ANTENNA IS ROUTED OUT SIDE AND UNDER FUSLAGE TO THE TAIL. WAS WONDERING IF THE ADDED WIRE TO THE BATTERY AND IT BEING RIGHT OVER THE ANTENNA COULD CAUSE THIS OR IF THEY MISSED SOMETHING WHEN IT WAS REPAIRED. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Probably the best way to confirm or deny whether the transmitter is at fault, is to revert back to a known configuration. IF the problem is still there, then it would point to the Tx being at fault. If your range goes back to normal, add the parts one by one until the range decreases. The last addition you made will be the cause.

First thing I would do is pull the antenna out and hold it up. See if you can find a location for it that eliminates the interference.

I Dont think plugging your battery in backwards would hurt TX. as it's probably diode protected. However I plugged battery in backwards on a Futaba reciever once by using one of those universal plugs and the wiring got hot instantly .I unplugged it very quickly and everything to my surprize still worked. In closing this radio appeared normal at first but now I'm experiancing some range problems and glitching. If I don't figure it out soon i'll order a new reciever or send it back to Futaba.Later Dude.P.S. from what I read you should be able to get 180 ft. with only 6 in. of TX antenna sticking up and thats with engine running .Be sure to walk all the way around the plane and have a buddy stand near to watch it should it decide to go to full throttle "mine did" and to report to you what it's doing. Mine failed this test engine running or not.

I had glitching problems the last 2 days-- only during the range check. I flew anyway with no problem. Go to the Clubhouse forum and check out the thread on the solar flares. Not saying this is it-- but on 2 different planes on 3 different days I got glitches when I have never got glitches before. With the antenna extended I had no problem at all. (Not recommending you follow my lead-- just my thoughts)
