Default Multiplex Digi -vs- Hitec Digital -vs- JR

I don't what to open a big can of worms, but I want to know from the people who use them. How do these compare? I am looking at the Multiplex Profi, Hitec 5925, or JR 8411. They are going on the elevator of my H9 Extra 330L.

What are the pros and cons to any of them?
If you had to buy them again what if anything would you do different?

Thanks in advance for your responses,
Eric Backscheider

8411s are awesome servos, but if I were you, I would use the 5925s. I recently used one on my Funfly (elevator) and I tell you, its FAST!!! They have less torque as compared to the 8411s but they are cheaper, faster & perform really well...

I havent used multiplex as yet..but the profi speed servo has a torque of only 48oz/in if I remember correctly...So I would go for the Hitecs !!

Do let us know what you do!

I have 4 MPX mc/v2 Profi Speed servos in the wing of my Ultra Stick. They work quite well (very fast & strong) and center perfectly. This is real important to me, as there's nothing more infuriating than having four wing surfaces that don't line up.

I have 4 mc/V2 Royal servos in my Raptor. Collective, aileron, elevator and throttle. I just put them in - I haven't flown the heli yet. They aren't the fastest ones around but once again they are very strong and center quite well.

Default jr hitec& multiplex

The only problem with multiplex servos is the mounting: The Royal mcv2 case is larger than JR/hitec and the profi is a little smaller . You'll find this out after you try to mount them as I did..

Price for performance for dollar I like the 5925 hitec the best...

Default servo choice

i am using 13 hitech`s on my extra
6 x 25`s ailerons
4 x 25`s elevators
3 x 45`s rudder

1 x analouge on throttle

all superb , but in saying that only had about a dozen flights
tons of torqu and far too much speed for what i need

all matched with the programmer allthough were pretty damn near without

extra330,

Something tells me your 14 servos are not attached to a 40-size trainer. If I was to hazard a guess it is probably a 40% scale Extra.

I'm doing the same with my 1/4-scale H9 Cap 232 but not quite as many as yours:

2 x 25`s ailerons
2 x 25`s elevators
1 x 45`s rudder

1 x analog on throttle.

Like me, you probably selected the 5625's for the airlerons and elevators for their speed and the 5645 for it's torgue.

What many people don't know yet is Hitec has changed the specifications on these servos.

The 5625s used to be:
Torque:4.8VDC: 77 oz-in. (3.3 kg-cm)
6.0VDC: 93 oz-in. (4.1 kg-cm)
Speed @ 60 Degrees:4.8VDC: 0.16 seconds
6.0VDC: 0.13 seconds

The 5625s are now:
Torque:4.8VDC: 109.7 oz-in. (3.3 kg-cm)
6.0VDC: 133.53 oz-in. (4.1 kg-cm)
Speed @ 60 Degrees:4.8VDC: 0.17 seconds
6.0VDC: 0.14 seconds

The 5645s used to be:
Torque:4.8VDC: 107 oz-in. (3.3 kg-cm)
6.0VDC: 133 oz-in. (4.1 kg-cm)
Speed @ 60 Degrees:4.8VDC: 0.23 seconds
6.0VDC: 0.18 seconds

The 5645s are now:
Torque:4.8VDC: 143.03 oz-in. (3.3 kg-cm)
6.0VDC: 164.2 oz-in. (4.1 kg-cm)
Speed @ 60 Degrees:4.8VDC: 0.23 seconds
6.0VDC: 0.18 seconds

Now, I don't know what precipitated the change in specifications and wonder whether these are new servos or the original batch was incorrectly spec'd.

Good to know.

The next set of digital servos I buy will be Hitecs. I have been pleased with the MPX products but the prices have gone up by 70% since I bought the set for the heli. A pity.

I have owned the Mplx and Hitec---Love the Multiplex but you will need the "Power" for the elevators-I don't think the Profi is strong enough (72oz)- The centering on Mpx is by far the best I have ever seen!

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the responses.

I have decided to go with the JR 8411 for the elevator. I installed them last week and what a difference in the surface. Fast and Very strong! I may look at Multiplex for the other's but I did not feel that the multiplex were strong enough for each elevator half.

Thanks again,
Eric

Default re servos

forgot to mention,
after looking at futaba,jr,volz and hi tech digitals, the hi tech have the least amount of backlash,
even with the hi techs and short 440 rods with ball links on both ends,my ailerons are approx 8" chord and still get some movement......around 3mm up and down either side of centre.
this sounds and looks a lot which concerned me at first, flutter etc etc.
this is not the case as they have had around a dozen 3d flights on them, and i would say in my aircraft have been tested to their limit,

all the others ranged from 4mm to 6mm
these were borrowed from a fellow club flier.

also good idea to use the new programmer to match each servo in multiple servo surfaces.
