Okay I have a question since I have been a ham and we change crystals in a radio it is always necessary to net the crystal to the desired frequency, no two crystals will oscillate at exactly the same frequency. but then we get to this hobby and they are promoting plug and pray technology. I don't understand, I just bought a hitec flight pack which comes with no crystal, you order the crystal for the desired frequency you install the crystal and it's supposed to be on frequency??
thanks for some insight in this matter. Warren Kean [email protected]

I see your question. However we are dealing with FM, not SSB which has to be within a few hundred hertz to sound intelligible. The 10KHz FM signal will be on frequency with the crystal without any tuning.

However, you will encounter MANY users who believe these laws don't apply to them. Please ignore them.
