Got my new 9cap
Came FedEx today, and it felt like a late Christmas for me, (since all I got was some socks and a nice sweatshirt).
Opened the box and when I saw the servos I ordered and the 1100 mah Nicd battery, I was impressed the guy actually gave me exactly what I ordered with no mix-ups.
The Tx itself was a sight for sore eyes. All those switches and knobs, half of which I may never use, but who cares. I have one, that's what matters. And if I need them, they will be there. I immediately attached the neck strap and adjusted the sticks to fit my taste, and played with it for about 15 minutes pretending to fly my new plane. I felt like a little kid again. I have been away from this hobby for far too long.
I almost began to weep for joy.

I have had one of these for more than a year. You will love this radio. While you will never use all the switches, you will enjoy the ability to mix out bad traits of your plane with the radio.

RE: Got my new 9cap
That's kind of what I am looking forward to. the C-pro I flew years ago had sort of a habit of spiralling when trying to roll on axis. This radio allows for mixing of servos so I can adjust the throw of each differantly to help keep it on axis. Also, can't wait to play with the flaperons. The C-pro is a slow flier as is, but with flaps down, it floats better than most trainers.
And the power curve adjustment will be nice when playing with the new Enya 155r I am getting. Goody, goody, I can't wait. hehehehe
I read the throttle cut thread for the 9C, and looks like I would prefer that set up also. This is getting better everyday.
The possibilities with this new toy is very impressive for price paid.

You just jinxed yourself. LOL
Seriously, I hope you make it. When you fly alot, that can be hard to do. Crashing is part of the hobby, no matter how good of a radio you have.

Ok, this is getting bad. I have had my radio for a week now, and whenever I get to working on my plane to install the servos and Rx etc, I keep getting sidetracked and start playing around with the Tx, pretending to fly my plane. I'll never get this thing in the air.

Yeah I know I did. Bu this year I'm implementing a rigid preflight regimen that, if I had used last year, would have saved me a couple ouches. 'Cept for one...battery fell apart in-fligh (electric plane). #&^% Cermark batteries.

RE: Got my new 9cap
Ok, here is a question for all you PCM Guru's.
With my 9CAP radio came the 149DP Rx. The plane I am building right now does not need a 9ch Rx, but my next plane will need a 9ch Rx. When the time comes, I was thinking of putting just a 6ch Rx in my first plane to swap it out and save a little money without having to buy another 9ch PCM for my new plane.
I was wondering if I can use a 6ch FM Rx on my old plane (same channel) instead of PCM like my radio came with. I have heard the 9CAF and 9CAP are the same Tx. Can I do this? And if so, what do I need to do to make the new FM Rx to work with my 9CAP radio?

Patriot,
Your 9CAP is programable for both PPM (FM) and PCM. The answer to your question is yes since its the same frequjency as your TX, as long as you program the TX to PPM for that model, and save the 9 ch PCM for your next project.

RE: Got my new 9cap
If your 6ch receiver is a Futaba compatible receiver that will work fine. Yes the 9CAP is the same as the 9CAF only difference being the receiver they are shipped with. You have to go to the advanced menu and switch the modulation from PCM to PPM to work with a FM Rx, it's explained in the manual how to switch between the two. You'll love your new radio.

Right on, that's all I need to know. I have to admit, I haven't really sat down and read the whole manual yet. I am still working on my plane, but I keep taking time out to play with the radio. At this rate, I'll never get done.
