Default MPI switches

Anyone had any problems with any of the Maxx Products heavy duty switch/charge units? Thought I read in one of the forums that some of them were defective, but can't find it again. Please post any information we might be interested in hearing and be specific as to which unit was used and any positive or negative experiences. Thanks, Joe

I use a switch that looks like theirs but I get it from Radical RC. I have never had a problem with one.

Hi Joe,
I have used several of them, and their standard size too, and never had any problems. I really like their switches and extensions.

I use the one with the charge jack and the 3 led's. A little pricey but they always work!

Where did you get this switch?
It sounds interesting.

i have 8 planes rtf. all have the mpi switches. i like them because installation is neat without the seperate charge plug. i started switching to the led model early last year after seeing them advertised. the charge indicator gives confidence in your battery condition & as a bonus that warns you at a glance if you fail to turn your switch off. got all mine from rcjunky on ebay. search for him, he always has switches, ext. leads, y harnesses & such.

ps never any problems

Hi guys, when I started this thread, I mentioned that on one of these forums a number of people had reported in flight failure of these switches, lost their planes, and were very upset. I have gone back to the forums and could not find the posts for some reason. I was hoping that this post would catch their attention and we might hear from them. I'm not trying to shake everyone up, but would like to know if the MPI switches have a bad connection causing shorting as they emphatically claimed. I for one am not about to trust my bird with one of these if there is a known inherent problem. Hope we can keep this thread going for awhile, and give these fellows a chance to come foreward, as I want to make a decision to use these based on good and unbiased information. Thanks, Joe

Joe,

No one here, including myself has had a problem. I never saw a post stating they did until reading yours.

This is a good way to give free advertizing to an excellent product.

I have used both the MPI and the Radical switches, both with great success.

However, the Radical switch uses a plastic backing plate inside the plane that you screw 2 sheet metal screws into.

The MPI switch uses tiny bolts, nuts and washers with no backing plate.

There are several of those tiny nuts floating around in one or two of my planes.

I like the Radical switches better, if only for this reason.

I have the MPI "Y" harness electronic servo reverser. It went out over the weeekend after just 4 months of use and app. 15 flights. Lucky I was doing a pre-flight and noticed it. Sending it back but its gonna cost me $6.95 for shipping and the dang thing only cost $20 to start with.

I use them in all six of my planes for the last 3 years. No problems at all. Using two of them in my 1/5 scale Grumman Wildcat.
