I have been using one in my PW Extra on a Futaba R149DP receiver.
I have 200 flights on the plane and it range test over 300ft with the 9C TX antennae fully collapsed

I like the WS Deans whip antenna, but I have seen several have a problem where Nitro Methane fuel attacks the blue dip insulation. The insulation then cracks and the very tiny wire inside breaks causing intermittant radio failure. Revolution also makes a whip antenna, but it does not have this problem. The Revolution one costs about the same.

Whatever you choose, follow the directions. Better yet, send the receiver to a radio shop and have it re-tuned with the new antenna.

Antenna position is more importantant with a deans, I'm not sure the proper direction it should be facing, and it's a little more critical to make sure there's nothing immediatly nearby to interfere with it.

You also have to be careful were you route your regular antenna. I have used the revolution and the little micro ones for parkflyers with no problems.
