Default Reciever Frequency Question

I'm working on a scratch built car and I have a JR XR2 radio labeled 27MHz and i have 3 different pairs of crystals all in that range. I just bought a JR R122 receiver labeled 75MHz thinking that the label is just what the factory sends for crystals...therefore if i put 27 crystals in the receiver and radio they should work. It doesn't. Can anyone tell me if my logic is wrong and there is actually something fundamentally different in the receivers or did i just get a bum receiver?

Your logic is wrong. The tuned section of the receivers is far too different for this.
The crystal alone doesn't do much good without a circuit that's tuned for it.
Sorry

So your saying that there is something other than just the crystal within the reciever that says it's 27 or 75...learn something new every day. thanks
