Default Futaba S148, S3003/3004, and Hitec HS-425BB differences

Are the Futaba S148, Futaba S3003/3004, and the Hitec HS-425BB all pretty much the same when it comes to reliability, speed, power and centering?

The reason I am asking is that I have 3 planes that need servos (Sensation, Super Stearman, and Thunder Tiger Fun Tiger) and I'm trying to figure out which servos to put where. I currently have (4) 3004s, (6) 148s, and (2) 3003s, and I am buying a Hitec Eclipse that I can get with (4) 425s, or separately with servos of my choice.

Although the 3003 seem to have a lot less backlash when new ,the indirect drive on the 148 feedback pot will allow better centering over the long haul. The HiTech 425 is about equal to the 3003 with a bit more torque.
I would suggest ball bearing conversion for the Futabas . Well worth the extra money IMHO .

I am using many hitec 425 servos. Have never had one fail. (knock wood). They center well for a 3 pole servo have a bit more torque than most other standards and have ball bearings, and at 15 bucks it is a relatively good bargain. I have several 3003's that have all worked well too but for the money I will go with the 425BB and a liitle more torque. If your looking for specifications go to servocity.com and look them up

The 3003s are just not worth the money since you can buy BB'ed 3004 for the same money. I have bought quite a few 3004s, including ones that came with my 9C. They are not bad for smaller sport planes, but I absolutely hate those split rubber grommets.

I think the dual ball bearing 425BB is the best bang for the buck of the bunch you mentioned. However, my current vote for the minimum price Champion of the World goes to Expert's SL571, which centers very well and has substantially more torque than all the other sub-$20 servos, especially at 6V, which is a must if you're running these "standard" servos.

Any input on which servos would be best for which control surfaces? 3003s for throttle, etc? Or are they all about the same?
