Futaba 7C LCD craps out
My new 7C, which is only two weeks new, lost it's LCD/screen this past weekend. When I went out to charge it Saturday night, I switched it on just to check the current voltage. When I did so, nothing showed up on the screen, I mean nothing. Boy was I pissed! Needless to say, I didn't fly anything on channel 50 Sunday.
I called Hobby Services and they told me to send it in and they would repair it. I just got back from the FedEx office and thought I'd come on here to loosen up a bit (I'm still pissed).
Anyway, it cost me $16.00 to send off a brand new, state fo the art R/C transmitter for repair. I guess I need to consider my self lucky though. I've been in this hobby for over four years now and this is one of the only two problems I've had with product failure.
I just thought I'd let everyone know about my incident with the 7C. If you're a 7C owner, don't be suprised if the same happens to you.
Other than this slight malfunction, I love the radio.

Just wondering, was your charge lead plugged in? On my RD8000 the screen doesn't
come on when the lead is plugged in. I've heard some others do this as well.

No, the charge lead was not plugged in. I was checking the voltage on the radio before charging. As soon as I turned on the radio, it came on but the screen had no display. When I talked to Hobby Services about sending it back, I asked them if this was a reoccuring problem with this particular radio. He said no, but that the 9C had a few instances of the screen going out. Since the 7C is the younger sibling of the 9C, I guess that there can be a genetic flaw that carries over. Anyway, I sent it back yesterday. I just hate I have to go through the weekend without my transmitter.
