Default Servo Jitter

I recently planted a plane and repaired it and right away I notice servo Jitter. When the range check was performed the servos jittered more the further away the transmitter was away from the plane. When it was at the plane jitter was minimal. I replaced the receiver with a hitec (thats what was availible at the LHS ) that has selectable shift and it took care of the problem. The question is that the receiver that had the jitters was a futaba (as it had been any other brand it probably would have suffered the same fate) and not that it matters I am using that as a reference. Is it possible that the crystal was damaged or the receiver as it took a full throttle hit into the ground from 30 feet up.
