Default Servo Extension Connector Holders

Has anyone seen any type of servo extension connector holder that holds together the connection of a servo wire and a servo extension? If not, how do you keep the connectors from coming apart when used inside a wing, e.g., with an airleron servo?

Ernst makes them

I have also used dental floss, triple looped and square knotted. Slide the floss between the wires on both sides and tie it up.

There are many good ways. I've tried hattends' way with the dental floss and it works well. I have also used heat shrink with success.

Servo connectors coming apart should be the LEAST of your worries. With all the questions I have ever seen regarding this question; I have yet to ever see or hear LEGITIMATE tell of it happening.

Despite what I've said above, I've taped mine (electrical tape, of course) together since forever. Works fine for me. Sullivan now sells a most excellent capsule for keeping connectors connected now if it makes you sleep better at night.

I had a friend build me an ARF for a visit (I am in Alaska and he is in California and I didn't want to ship a plane).

We got out to the field and tried a range check and one aileron wasn't working. We pulled the servo and the connector came out and left the extension inside. The extension used was ju-u-u-u-ust long enough to get to the receiver and I apparently had pulled it out of the servo when putting the wing on. Luckily I had dental floss to provide a little security.

Anyway, that is my anecdotal story of actually having a connector come loose. I've never, ever, had one come out in flight, though (knock balsa)

I have been using heatshrink, but dental floss seems to be a good idea. Waxed, unwaxed, minted ? LOL !

I have always used electrical tape or shrink tubing. The thing I like about shrink tubing is that it doesn't leave a gummy residue when you take it off like electrical tape does if it's been on a long time.

I just built a Sig 4* 60 and used two 12 inch extensions for the ailerons. I used some 1/8 inch teflon spiral wrap, same type we use on wiring of full scale electrical/avonics leads. I put about 2 inches on each side of the connector. I also use it where there are several other wires/connectors go together, such as at the receiver. Makes it easy when you have to pull them thru the wing tube or down a long run in the fuselage. Should be available at Radio Shack or other electrical supply. If you use a long run, say a foot or more, the way it is properly installed, you'll use almost twice as much of the wrap as the length of the wiring.

I second the new offering from Slimline. They snap over the connectors and lock them together. They are easy to open and close. I use them on aileron connections on all of my planes. When I take the wing off and disconnect the aileron, I just snap it over the connector in the plane and it's there the next time I need them. Package of six for $4.95 direct from Slimline.

Parson Safety Clips are the best ones on the market. They grip the clip and not the wire.

RC Accessory has them on promotion, Buy 4 packages, get 1 free.
