RE: Blue Bird BMS630-MG Servos
I bought 2 of the BB 621 MG servos a few months ago and tried to use them in a 60 size FF. They are about the worst servo I have ever owned. They center horribly, Buzz and chatter for the first few seconds of operation and are MUCH slower than advertised. They also dont seem to hold there torque either. I have e mailed balsa products several times about returning mine but they have not returned any of my e mails. IMO stay far away from the big BB servos. I have several of the mini 371's and 306's and like them very much. I guess I should add I removed them before the first flight. I wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw them... but that's just me..

Some of the local guys have gave them a shot around the San Antonio area, and all have failed. I have personally witnessed two of them that literally smocked a hole in the case.[][]

I used the 620's with nylon gears in a 120 sized extra. They centered very well and were strong. everyone who flew the plane loved it. One guy loved it so much he bought it. The servos worked very well. I am now putting some 630's in third scale Challenger.

Several people around here are using them with good results, however, I did personally witness two of them on a slow stick melt down with direct internal shorts. They were on a futaba 148 receiver with gws speed control. They both quit working-and when troubleshooting we plugged a 4.8v battery in to test the receiver in lieu of the ESC power. The wires immediately melted off of the battery! Turns out the wires inside the servos had come loose and shorted and that the ESC didnt have enough power to melt it down- they just quit working. When hooked to a good power source the whole works melted. I would stay away from them or at least treat the leads with extreme care! Very poor internal wiring connections!

I've got about 10 of them in various different rc vehicles. (couple in planes, some in a stadium truck, and used to have two in the airboat) they have all held up very well, and the numbers advertised seem to be accurate. they WILL take a large amount of current, and I could see one of those smoking itself or the wiring if you have a binding problem.
