Default Transmitter range

Guys
does anyone know the approximate range of a transmitter from, let's say, a Futaba 9c. There's local flying fields that are relatively close together. I'm wondering what a safe distance of separation is for two aircraft that it may happen be on the same frequency. The two flying fields are approximately 1 mile apart.
Thanks

This is precious little separation and its why the AMA will not charter two clubs with sites less than three miles separation between each unless there is a frequency sharing agreement in place. You would not catch me flying at either site with only a mile.

The range is not rated by radio but receiver. The radios can reach out well over a mile. The receiver rating tells you how far the receiver can be from the radio.

For example, except for the Hitec Feather, all other Hitec FM receivers sold today are rated at 1 mile/1.6KM or furhter. So two fields within a mile of each other are TOO close for safety unless they have a frequency sharing agreement. For example, one field use even channels and one use the odds.

1 mile is too close. 2 miles would be, maybe OK as long as they are not fly TD sailplanes, but as stated above, the AMA recommends 3 miles minimum and i would go with that as a safe margin.
