Love my Hitec. Best bang for the buck out there, and all the frequencies in one radio to boot.
If price is no object, JR makes great stuff too. If they would add some more channels to that 10 channel, and use the multiplex angled antenna idea, I would probably switch!!!!!
(former falling apart Futaba owner)

www.gater.com who else gives you Led Zep followed by Jimi Hendrix?
But apart from that, I am a Multiplex fan, though I understand its relative price is very high in the USA which severely limits its attractiveness to many of you.

Kraft ,yes even above the vaulted Pro Line . As long as the Kraft has the SUPERB Pro Line metal gimbals.Otherwise anything that doesn't start with the letter "F" or "M"
As far as ham gear , Collins (The radio of choice in Japan, where Icoms are hatched) E.F. Johnson , Ten -Tec .

all my radios...
Let's see, EK, Orbit, Kraft, Futaba. Wow, I think I might be giving away my age...
Now I'm on to Multiplex. Have the IPD 9 channel receiver. Using it with my 8U. Best receiver I've had. Soon to purchase a Profi 4000.
My 2 cents.
Thanks,
Tom...

Fave. Radio
I'll be controversial and say I've never really been totally satisfied with any radio I've had. All Tx's have seemed a bit flimsy, built like cheap stereo gear, rather than quality precision instruments. I never had the money to buy top of the range though. I am happy with servo's and receivers I have (Airtronics/Sanwa), they have given great service over the years.
Everything is built to a price now. I remember the old Futaba Gold radio's, and some of the Krafts - they were great, and looked and felt like quality inside and out, on any criteria.
Now, it's all built in obsolescence and disposability. A sign of the times we live in I guess. The upside - Radio's today are dirt cheap for what you get and undoubtedly pretty reliable. We are lucky that the hobby is truly much more affordable than it was 20 years ago.
Favourite radio? - I hope it will be the Mpx RE 12 - not due where I am until next year! I look forward to checking it out.

I totaly agree
Fiery,
I totally agree with your statement that today radios are cheap plastic junk. I always like my Proline Custom comp then when I switched to Futaba I had an 8jn (also metal case). Then I switched to ACE, first a Silver 7 then an MP800 (see a trend here?). Now I fly a JR 10SXII and that has a fake metal feel (will at least it's heavier then the plastic ones).

Depends on the part and what I'm using it for!
I love my JR 8103. Feels great in my hand and does anything I need it to. I came close to buying an Airtronics Stylus, but got a great deal on the 8103.
For 6-channel radios, the Airtronics RD6000 is hard to beat. Nothing in its class comes close.
I own JR, Airtronics, Futaba, and Hitec receivers. Never had a problem with any of them. I do like the way the JR receivers are labelled. It's a minor thing, but a nice one none the less. My next receiver will be a Hitec Electron 6 for a DLG.
My next radio (in 3 years or so) will be either a JR or Airtronics. I like their transmitters the best, and have had nothing but positive experiences with them.
Servos are a ball of wax. Depends entirely on the application. I use Airtronics, JR, Hitec, and Futaba. They all work great, and some brands are better for certain applications than others.
For gyros, Futaba is tops right now. I've been nothing but happy with my GY501.

I can live without the metal case, but not without the features of modern computer radios.
