RC Range
hello guys,
I guess I got a stupid question but I really need to know this. I have just brought a Futaba Radio T6XH - PCM/FM and a 7 ch. Futaba FM receiver. I would like to know if anyone has a idea of what is the range of the radio. I am new to RC so I would like to have some input from you guys.
Thank you,
Kumar

Range is one of those funny things. It depends on several factors, i.e. the strength of your batteries, the surrounding terrain, etc. Basic rule of thumb is that your airplane will be a speck in the sky before you lose radio contact with it.
In other words, you'll lose visual recognition before you lose radio range. So if you can see it well enough to distinguish the wings from the rest of it, you'll be ok.
Now if you're planning on doing something like putting a camera inside it and flying it from a TV set. I would suggest having a friend drive it around in a car while you talk to each other on cell phones.

There are two ranges which are of concern here. The maximum range your plane can receive a signal and the maximem range two radios on the same channel can interfere with each other. As for the later (radios interfering), it can be 2.5-3.0 miles.
