Need help--sizing batery for a 10 servo system
I am building a Ziroli giant scale Corsair. It will have 10 servos, all JR, most with 125 oz-in capacity/capability. My question: how do I figure out my on board battery capacity? Any suggestions would be greatly appreated. Also, will the NiMh batteries be ok ? Also, big question: on such a large and expensive bird, should I be considering duel batteries?
Thanks for your help.

RE: Need help--sizing batery for a 10 servo system
For a warbird I would use dual 2400 mAH Li-Ion with 6V regs or dual 5-cell 1950 mAH NiMh... definitely use duals... it does not add that much weight and backs up the one major source of failure (batteries and switches). With 10 servos you will need the power.

desertpig:
Thanks for the input. I have never used 5 cell/6V batteries before but will strongly consider--is it the power and/or speed gain on these big servo/s that function better at this voltage?
Also, any rule of thumb for amps/servo X time for sizing ma hr?
Thanks,

I have torque VS current plots for the high power servos. From these plots you can determine the current drain of your system. $19.95/copy on a CD . PM me if interested

If you have a Futaba 9C transmitter, you can cycle your servos to see what the average load is. I will do this first before determing your battery requirements.
