Default Computer-controlled RC transmitter?

Hello,
I'm new to these forums so I'm not quite sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I aplogize in advance if I'm in the wrong place.

I would like to build a computer-controlled RC car. Most of this I understand how to do, but I have not been able to find a way to interface the computer (i.e. the serial port) with a transmitter.
Are there any RC transmitters that can interface with a computer, or can anyone point me to any resources that might be able to explain how to interface a computer with an RC transmitter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Computer-controlled RC transmitter?

Thanks for the reply. I've seen that, but I was under the impression that it essentially does the opposite of what I want to do.

That is, if I understand correctly, it takes input from the RC transmitter, into the computer.
I want to use the computer to send output through the RC transmitter, in order to control the robot.
Am I wrong in my assumption?

Default Computer Control

Look at the website of GAA Custom Electronics: http://mstar2k.com

Mr. Gordon Anderson is experienced in electronics, and computer control systems.

You can find his e-mail address, and phone number, at the website above.

I'll bet he can help point you in the rite direction.

You might also send an email to

[email protected]

with the word "robotics" in the body of the message. Our automated system will immediately send you information on robotics, including the information we do have on what you are attempting to do.

Do you want bi-directional communications between your PC and your RC/car?

If so you may need a more complex system.

Look at Ken Hewitts web page at:

http://www.welwyn.demon.co.uk/PC_RC/PC_to_RC.htm

This device was made to allow a computer to plug into a trainer port and act as the student/slave radio. I have not built this device, but have bought and made other stuff from Ken's site, and they work great.
