Default Futaba 4VF & flight sim

I heard that, to save battery power while using various simulators (RF G2, FMS etc.), you should remove the crystal.
I am thinking of buying:

Any one with any experience about this cable with a 4VF into a Win98, PIII, 733Mhz system?
Any help is appreciated

Andy, Your question will probably get you better answers in thegeneral radio forum as this forum is only for questions direct to the manufacturer's representative. I've moved it for you.
