RE: futaba radio i bought
If the seller was a Mode 1 or Mode 3 user, the radio was "rigged right"
Maybe the advertising should have said "Futaba 7C on Mode X"
OR; maybe the seller, especially if you got it from someone on 'the popular online auction site,' doesn't have any idea what he/she is selling other than what the label says.
You need to do a stick mode change
If you don’t have the manual, you can get it here
http://www.futaba-rc.com/manuals/manual-7c.html
See page 15, “Changing Modes”
Change it to Mode 2 to put throttle/rudder function on the left and elevator/aileron function on the right. That is the predominant mode in the US.
If you’re comfortable doing mechanical changes inside the case, you can ignore the sentence that says the must be done by a service center.
There’s no wiring or soldering to do. There is a spring that moves from one side to the other and the throttle ratchet moves from one side to the other.
From this page on the Hitec site

Download the manual to the Flash 5 SX
On page 11 they show the internal changes you need to do. Even though the radios are not identical the drawings showed enough that my brother was able to switch my Futaba with no problems.
