Default Futaba Recievers

In the process of buying a new reciever, I notice in the new TT catalog the Futaba R127DF reciever is no longer listed..There is a listing for a "new" 8ch R168DF.. Is this replacing the old 127? .Can anyone shed some light on this situation...

Buy a Hitec or FMA instead - cheaper.

Twinman:
I do not dislike Futaba.....If so, all three of my giant scale , and both my 60 size planes would be inoperative...I was trying to buy another... A call to Tower confirmed the old 127 reciever has been "discontinued", and replaced by a new model advertized in the May-June Tower Talk catalog.... I was just curious as to WHY it was discontinued, as I am currently using three of them, and if any problems were occuring that may need attention..

I think the buyers guide on the link below is very informative. Scroll down to bottom of page for explanations

The -127 has been around a LONG time, perhaps 10 - 15 years. I got into the hobby in 1999 and the -127 was old then.

It is likely that manufacturing considerations are an issue. The parts get harder to purchase and assembly technology improves. In electronic manufacturing, 15 years is an eternity!
