Default Fut S9252 Servos with Powerbox ?

Plan on using a Powerbox (EVO 40/16) that puts out 5.9 volts. I had hoped to use some FUT S9252 digital servos when I noticed the box reads '4.8 V only' and 'Ni-Cad only'. I had heard that some of the information on the Futaba packaging is not always accurate. Wondering if I should use different servos to be safe ? ? Thanks. Bob

I have used S9252's with 5-cell packs before with no problems. The things to watch out for is extensions that are too light a guage and battery packs with no guts. These servos can draw very high curents when under load.

Safe Flying!

I wouldn't run them on a 6 volt pack thats unregulated because the dead band will narrow and they will chatter constantly (worse than normal) but lots of helicopter guys run them at 6v regulated with no problems.

Thanks for the responses/information guys. Here is some additional information I got ...... which leads me to believe that I will be OK First, I am really not using a 5 cell pack, I am using a Powerbox that regulates the voltage to 5.9 volts (constant). It was explained to me that 4 cell packs, when fully charged, usually deliver almost 6 volts, and, 5 cell packs, when fully charged, deliver almost 7.5 volts. I was told that the reason for the '4.8 Volts Only' note on the box is so that people do not use a 5 cell pack ..... which would deliver (at times) 7.5 volts. Since the standard 4-cell/4.8 volt pack delivers (at times) 6 volts, then my Powerbox (which delivers 5.9 volts) should be fine. This sort of makes sense to me ........ what do you think ? Bob

I run 9252's on regulated 6 volts with no problems at all. 5 of them going strong after a year of hard flying.
