in a generic sense, a 4chn transmitter will work just fine with a 6 chn receiver. however not all brand xmitters will work with any brand receiver. if you bought a futaba receiver (ppm ) then any futaba xmitter will work fine

The flight pack in the link is 'negative shift' which is the same as Futaba, Hitec, and Tower.
The GWS Dreamstarter transmitter is available in negative or positive shift.
Be sure to get the negative shift model or it will not work with the flight pack you bought.
This site doesn't break it down as positive/negative.
They simply write "Futaba Shift" and "JR Shift"
http://www.toddsmodels.com/Radios/gwsradio.htm
49.95 for the transmitter in either shift; plus shipping

If that's a GWS Lady Bug, after you destroy it in it's first flight, buy the GWS Slo-Stick next. I fly a GWS Pizza plane. Same thing thing as the Lady Bug, i think. Not a plane to learn on. The Slo-Stick is very flyable. Good as a trainer, first plane.

Of all the planes I have flown, the Pizza plane was by far the most difficult to fly.

A flight simulator is a MUST if you want to learn to fly. Bphobbies has a complete flight simulator for $29.95. (soon to be available) Much cheaper to crash a plane on the simulator than the real thing.

The way the 4 channel transmitter works this way:

Right stick: Push to the right, plane goes to the right.
Push to the left, plane goes to the left.
Pull stick towards you, plane goes up.
Push stick away from you, plane goes down.

Left stick: pull towards you, motor slows down.
Push stick away from you, motor speeds up.
Push stick to the right, rudder deflects to the right, looking from behind the plane.
Push stick to the left, rudder deflects to the left. (if you have a rudder servo)(I don’t)

I believe your plane will only work if you use “elevon” mode. This requires a computerized transmitter. I think you can buy a device that you can add to the plane that enables you to fly “elevon” mode using a simple 4-channel transmitter.

On the reciever, I use channels 1 & 2 hooked to the elevon servos, channel 3 for motor speed, and I don't use channel 4. I have no rudder servo.

If this is the plane, I'd consider a different choice.

GWS Easy Bug
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHCP6&P=0
This plane has been designed for advanced & expert R/C pilots

GWS Slow Stick $31.99
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHCJ2&P=0
For Beginner to Intermediate Modeler/Fliers

Planes that will allow you to learn to fly are usually not “cool looking” or extremely aerobatic. A Slow Stick will do some aerobatics, but learning to fly should be first priority.

This is what a GWS Pizza Plane cost me:

$139.99 Futaba 4EXA radio
$34.99 GWS Pizza plane
$34.99 E-flite EFLA 20 Amp mini Electronic Speed Control (ESC)
$31.99 Cirrus MRX 6 channel single conversion reciever
$9.99 Cirrus standard reciever crystal
$49.98 Cirrus CS-5.4 Molecular micro servos (2 x $24.98)
$41.99 Kokan 1500 mAh 2 cell 7C discharge LiPo battery
$54.99 Hobbico MarkII quick field charger
$5.58 mini E/Z connectors (4)(used 2)

$404.49 Total

(could have saved $17.98 by purchasing Hitec HS-55 servos instead of Cirrus)

I have since replaced the GWS motor with Himax HA2015-4100 brushless motor and Castle Creations Phoenix 25 amp speed control. $119.99

This isn't a hobby that you do on the cheap!

Looks pretty rough, but it is 3 years old!
