RE: Spektrum DSM2 2.4Ghz modules for Futaba and JR announced
Don't think so, see my post #117.
Modules will run at the PPM rate of the Tx.
DX7 runs at faster rate, supposedly higher than nearly all PCM rates (HUGE thread about "latency" measurements on a heli forum on this subject).
But your question is a very good one..... perhaps some measuremnents will be posted after these are out there.

Speedwise, will the performance of the modules equal that of the DX7?

RE: Spektrum DSM2 2.4Ghz modules for Futaba and JR announced
PPM = FM right? FM is analog and hence 'rate' doesn't really apply here I think.
Someone around here said the Module runs 'faster' than PCM which means the module samples, encodes, and transmits the incoming FM signal faster than a PCM system does (higher frame rate). I think 90% of all pilots out there can't notice the latency of PCM systems so if it's faster than what they have now, so much the better.
You loose the Model Match and programable F/S (which I never really believed in anyway - throttle-down is all I've ever set) and I bet you loose the data-packet rearrangement the DX7 does for mixing since that's all in the transmitter software.
I'm still in for no other reason than the shoot-down resistance. That's all I ever cared about in SS radios. Everything else is just gravy.

The module systems will operate at speeds similar to PCM or faster. The module systems are not as fast as the DX7. The modules will not work in the 6102 as the 6102 does not use a removable module. The JR system will work with any JR aircraft system that uses a module.

Kaastrup,
Spektrum has not made any plans to introduce modules for the Multiplex product.
Thanks,

What about modules for MPX Royal Evo 9/12 ???
And are the JR modules compatible with the european Graupner sender ????

Spektrum air systems are 1 way only communication. During the binding process the receiver does communicate back, but during normal operation they are 1 way.

I would like to know if they are planning a DX9 or better. If not, it will at least free me up to get a JR+module. I'd rather not. If they already have the rx, how much more work could it take to put out a transmitter?

I can assure you Spektrum will continue to aggressively introduce product based on feedback and consumer demand. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on specific future product until we formally announce it.
Thanks for your support

Any plans to make a module for an Airtronics Stylus?

Spektrum does not have plans to release a module for any Airtronics aircraft radios.

The system uses an antenna adapter that replaces the existing antenna, and the Spektrum antenna snaps onto the adapter. The existing antenna is not used and cannot be used with the Spektrum module. The Coax cable is pretty durable.

Hi Mike,
can you please comment on whether Futaba's upcoming FHSS based 2.4 ghz aircraft radio systems can interfere (in any way) with SpeKtrum's DSSS systems?
Thanks --qc

Great question! Per Futaba’s announcement, their 2.4GHZ FASST system uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS); while Spektrum uses Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS). In either case, while Futaba’s system hops from channel to channel within milliseconds, it will not interfere with Spektrum’s system even if it lands on one of the two channals the Spektrum system acquired.
Hope this helps a bit,

will the Spectrum work for my Jr 6102?
will the Spectrum work for my Jr 6102?
The 6102 is not a module based radio, so the modules will not be compatible. Options for Spektrum 2.4GHz radios would be the DX6 or maybe the DX7.
Thanks,

Will the new module syste work with my Futaba 8u transmitter. I already bought a DX7 but if I can use my 8u i would be very happy, I'm just finally learning my way around the programing in them.

Hey BIll,
There will be about six of us from Horizon there. Chris Huhn, John Redman, David Ribbe, David Payne, and Bill Brundle. We will be flying the modules at the event, and I will be at the Spektrum booth across from BVM.
See you there :-)

Yes, the Futaba version will work with your 8U. You can purchase the system with either an AR7000 or an AR9000 receiver.

Does the Futaba MZ module have a cable that connects to the trainer port of the transmitter, or does it get it's ppm signal directly from the module port?
