I think the final details are still being worked on. As the 2.4 GHz version is going to be built on the 12X, I know for a fact that the 12X programming & functionality is being reworked due to the amount of feedback received.

I am waiting for an update on its features which will be added to the existing 12X info page at MacGregors.

Great news in my oppinion. Not only is the 2.4gig a great way to go, the MODEL MATCH in it's self is a good reason to purchase either one of the new systems. I own the DX-7, by Horizon Hobby, which has the MODEL MATCH and it has saved several models from being junk before their time.

With JR jumping into the 2.4gighz field, it just goes to show that this type of system is here to stay.
So how many models did you junk before you got a DX-7?

Just a thought for you guys who like to get a product ASAP. I used to buy OS engines from the UK when the US was slow in bringing them to market. Now that we have 2.4 GHz you have the option to buy your radio anywhere in the world. You won't have 35 mHz or 40 or whatever to convert from. You might have service issues but you can now buy what you want.

In the past I saw the UK come out with 8 channel versions of my 10 channel radios that I would have really liked to have. (e.g. Like an 8X instead of a 10X). It may well be that this does not happen but I thought that I would tickle your fancy and float the thought!

I wonder if I can fit my Spektrum module to my Graupner MC20???????? I think I'll take a peak at the Graupner site :-)

Regards,

Eric.

Eric, in theory that is all well and good, but with the 2.4 GHz band, although the frequencies are "standardised", the RF Power output isnt !

In the USA you are allowed 500mW I believe (which equates to 1W EIRP) but here in the UK, we are stuck at 100mW EIRP(with various other limiting factors). T

his means that if the guys from the USA bought from us (because of timing issues) you would have a system that is 1/10 of the power !!! (Also the problem goes the other way as well !!)

2.4 GHz standardisation is a step in the right direction!

what would be cool is changing fight mode settings just by a change of throttle stick position
I know the other guys 12 channel does this

Dont make me switch sides!!!

I know that there is a degree of Stick Switch assignability ( 2/3rd down on this page.. http://www.macgregor.co.uk/radio/12X.htm ) but whether or not a Flight Mode can be assigned to a throttle position, I can't say as I don't have this level of info.

I picked up my new 9303 2.4 GHz transmitter today. Here are a few pictures that I took a moment to pose for the camera.

OK I sort of lied.

I did pick up the radio in my hands. For a moment it was in my possession. All mine, all mine !!! But I had to give it back to Peter Goldsmith who had kindly allowed me to take some pictures before he used it to fly a large warbird at Lums Pond, Warbirds over Delaware today.

A super radio for a great day of scale flying. I'll just have to be patient.....

Regards,

Eric.

The Wireless Buddy Box made by 2icrc can do what you are asking. You can use any two Txs from any brand using any transmitter technology (2.4, PCM , PPM, FM...) for buddy boxing.

Visit www.2icrc.com and read up about it.

The picture below shows the wireless buddy box wired to a Futaba PCM RX and a Spektrum RX. This picture only has 3 servos connected to the buddy box - so the picture doesn't get any more cluttered...however, you can connect up to 6 channels (6 servos) for buddy boxing.

Enjoy.
